When the nation goes to the polls, the OIG goes to work making sure the Postal Service can successfully deliver Election Mail and Political Mail for the American people. Election Mail includes any items sent to or from election officials such as ballot applications, voter registration cards, and, of course, ballots. Materials sent by candidates or other groups for political campaign purposes are considered Political Mail.

Every six months, like clockwork, we provide an update of our work to Congress and other postal stakeholders. This report, called the Semiannual Report to Congress (or SARC), is chock full of goodies describing our work at the USPS OIG, including detailed statistics about our audits and investigations.

Every year, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (or as it is known, CIGIE) holds its annual awards ceremony, spotlighting extraordinary achievements among the 74 federal Offices of Inspectors General. This year we achieved a noteworthy level of recognition. Our employees took home six different awards across a variety of categories.
