Fall 2025 SARC: Delivering Results for Postal Customers and the American Public
It’s that time of year when people gather with their families, share meals together, and create new memories. It’s a time of reflection, a time for gratitude….and of course a time for hearing about the accomplishments of the OIG.
We’ve just issued our Fall 2025 Semiannual Report to Congress, a summary of our work to improve the integrity, accountability, and efficiency of the U.S. Postal Service and its regulator, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). The efforts of our investigators, auditors, data scientists, and supporting components led to a noteworthy FY 2025 for the OIG:
Reports: Our auditors and researchers published 122 audit reports and white papers with 275 recommendations to the Postal Service and the PRC.
Investigations: Our Office of Investigations closed 2,780 investigations, with 880 criminal convictions and almost 1,400 administrative actions.
Monetary Impact: Our audits and investigations resulted in a collective financial impact of over $2.9 billion, with more than $90 million returned to the Postal Service.
Hotline Complaints: During FY 2025, our Hotline for reporting waste, fraud, and abuse handled more than 111,000 contacts from Postal Service employees, customers, the Postal Regulatory Commission, the Postal Inspection Service, and the general public.
Finally, we can’t overlook our accomplishments in data analytics. We use the latest technology to develop data tools that support our auditors and investigators in their work and also allow us to focus our limited resources efficiently.
