Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

USPS Workers Sentenced for Accepting Bribes to Deliver Cocaine Through the Mail

The last defendant of a group of 16 Postal Service letter carriers and clerks from across the Atlanta area was sentenced to federal prison for accepting bribes to deliver packages of cocaine – two kilograms or more at a time – in a wide-reaching undercover operation. Former Letter Carrier Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Drug Conspiracy

Greenbelt, Maryland – U.S. District Judge George J. Hazel sentenced former Postal Service letter carrier James Thomas Woodland, age 49, of Temple Hills, Maryland, to four years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Former USPS Employees Sentenced for Armed Robbery of Postal Carrier

Three men from Northeast Ohio, including two former U.S. Postal Service employees, were sentenced to prison for their roles in the armed robbery of a postal carrier in which they were trying to steal packages containing marijuana. Cortez Anderson, 29, of Oakwood Village, was sentenced to more than nine years in prison. Airlines to Pay $5.8 Million to Settle Allegations of Falsely Reporting Delivery Times of U.S. Mail
