Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Loudonville Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Cocaine Distribution Conspiracy

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Jesus Baez, age 32, of Loudonville, New York, was sentenced today to 5 years in prison for his role in a Capital Region cocaine distribution conspiracy. United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Postal Inspector in Charge Ketty Larco-Ward made the announcement. This case was investigated in collaboration with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

Omaha Man Sentenced to 12 Months and 1 Day for Theft of Government Property

Acting United States Attorney Susan T. Lehr announced that Jeffrey Bowlin, 55, of Omaha, Nebraska was sentenced on July 6, 2023, in federal court in Omaha for theft of government property. The Honorable Brian C. Buescher sentenced Bowlin to 12 months and one day in prison. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

National Enforcement Action Results in 78 Individuals Charged for $2.5B in Health Care Fraud

The Justice Department, together with federal and state law enforcement partners, announced today a strategically coordinated, two-week nationwide law enforcement action that resulted in criminal charges against 78 defendants for their alleged participation in health care fraud and opioid abuse schemes that included over $2.5 billion in alleged fraud. USPS OIG and other federal and state law enforcement agencies participated in the operation.

Logan County Man Sentenced to Prison for Federal Drug Crime

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Anthony Ryan Webb, 42, of Logan County, was sentenced today to three years and four months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for the distribution of methamphetamine. United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the United States Postal Service-Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the West Virginia State Police.

Troutville Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA – A former resident of Troutville, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty in federal court to violation of federal narcotics and money laundering laws related to a nine-month Title III wiretap investigation into drug trafficking in and around the counties of Jefferson, Clearfield, and Allegheny, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today. The multi-agency investigation included the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
