It’s that time of year when people gather with their families, share meals together, and create new memories. It’s a time of reflection, a time for gratitude….and of course a time for hearing about the accomplishments of the OIG.

When Postal Service employees get hurt on the job or develop a work-related illness, workers’ compensation benefits are there to help — covering medical care and lost wages while they recover. At the OIG, our Office of Investigations works to reduce these costs by fighting fraud in the program.

We take great pride in all our audit work and the work of our Field Operations Review Team is no exception.

One of our responsibilities as an Office of Inspector General is to keep Congress informed about issues at the Postal Service. We do this in our Semiannual Reports to Congress and by sharing our audit reports and other work. Sometimes, the OIG is also asked to take part in a hearing.

While there’s always debate about the Postal Service’s present and future, there is one thing everyone can agree on, it’s a very large and extremely complex organization. Every day the Postal Service picks up, processes, and delivers millions of letters and packages, visiting almost every household in America. The number of processes, procedures, and terminologies used on a day-to-day basis is staggering.
