Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Nine Arrested for Illegally Distributing 1.5 Million Opioid Pills

Nine Texas individuals were arrested this week in Houston on criminal charges related to their alleged involvement in the unlawful distribution of 1.5 million opioid pills and other controlled substances. Jury Convicts Former U.S. Postal Service Clerk Of Stealing Mail And Money Orders

LAS VEGAS – A jury convicted a former U.S. Postal Service clerk on Wednesday for stealing a customer’s mail and cashing the postal money orders worth over $2,300 that were inside. According to court documents and evidence presented during trial, between June 28, 2016 and July 6, 2016, James Earl Magee, 32, stole an envelope containing three money orders worth about $2,340.27 and cashed the money orders for his personal use. PITTSBURGH, PA – A California resident and a Pennsylvania resident have been sentenced in federal court on their convictions for violating federal narcotics laws related to a nine-month Title III wiretap investigation into drug trafficking in and around the counties of Jefferson, Clearfield, and Allegheny, United States Attorney Cindy K. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – KEVIN HART, age 31, of Marrero, Louisiana, was sentenced to a $100.00 fine and a $10.00 mandatory special assessment fee by United States District Court Judge Wendy B. Vitter. According to court documents, HART was employed by the United States Postal Service as a City Carrier Associate and was assigned to work at Johnson Street Post Office, Metairie, Louisiana 70001.
