Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Kenner Man Guilty of Stealing Mail by Using a U.S. Postal Service Mail Key

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -- ADOLPH KENDRICK, age 27, of Kenner, Louisiana, pleaded guilty on April 18, 2023 to Unlawful Possession and Use of a United States Postal Service (USPS) “arrow” key used by USPS employees to access authorized mail receptacles in violation of Tile 18, United States Code, Section 1704 and Theft of United States Mail that had been deposited into authorized mail receptacles. Postal Employee Sentenced To 5 Years In Federal Prison For Possessing With The Intent To Distribute More Than 11 Kilograms Of Fentanyl

Fort Myers, Florida – U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber has sentenced Theodore Garlow (53, Lehigh Acres) to five years in federal prison for possessing with the intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl. Garlow had pleaded guilty on January 10, 2023. According to court documents, in 2021, Garlow was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.

Nine Defendants Sentenced in $126M Compounding Fraud Scheme

Nine defendants – including three compounding pharmacy owners, a physician, two pharmacists, and three patient recruiters – were sentenced yesterday for their respective roles in a years-long, multi-state scheme to defraud the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP) and TRICARE, the health care program for U.S. service members and their families. The USPS OIG, DOD OIG, and DOL OIG investigated the case with assistance from the DVAO OIG.

Former St. Louis Letter Carrier Sentenced to Probation, Restitution for Stealing Checks

ST. LOUIS – U.S. District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig on Tuesday sentenced a former U.S. Postal Service letter carrier who stole two checks in St. Louis, Missouri to five years of probation and ordered him to repay $33,996. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation.

Final Defendant Sentenced for Million-Dollar Credit Card Fraud Scheme Involving Arlington Coffee Shop

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Two Washington D.C. women and a Clinton, Maryland, man were sentenced for their roles in a conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to court documents, Adiam Berhane, 50, conspired to carry out a fraud scheme with two others, involving stolen credit card information that was used to purchase gift cards, expensive luxury goods, and other items from local retail stores. This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Office of the Inspector General
