Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Scranton Doctor Sentenced to 140 Months in Prison

SCRANTON – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a Scranton physician, Kurt Moran, age 70, was sentenced yesterday by United States District Court Judge Robert D. Doctor Pleads Guilty to Accepting $3.3 Million in Illicit Payments to Perform Surgeries at Corrupt Hospital

LOS ANGELES – A neurosurgeon pleaded guilty today to a federal criminal charge for accepting approximately $3.3 million in bribes for performing spinal surgeries at a now-defunct Long Beach hospital whose owner later was imprisoned for committing a massive workers’ compensation system scam. Live Oak Postal Carrier Pleads Guilty To Stealing Verizon Wireless Cash Deposits

Jacksonville, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that Mikah Nathaniel Strickland (27, Live Oak) has pleaded guilty to stealing cash deposits from the mail. Strickland faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. Postal Employee Sentenced For Possessing Stolen Mail

Ocala, Florida – Senior U.S. District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Aleia Deborah Green (20, Brooksville) for possessing stolen mail. Green was sentenced to the maximum term of probation—five years—and ordered to make full restitution in the amount of $956.53 to the 23 victims of her offense.
