Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Former U.S. Postal Service Employee Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Mail

SHAWN R. FULLER, 37, of West Haven, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven to 12 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for stealing mail while he was a U.S. Postal Service employee. This matter was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service – Office of the Inspector General.

Postal employee ordered to pay restitution for COVID payroll protection loan fraud

OXFORD, Miss. – A Southaven woman was ordered to pay more than $80,000 in restitution following her conviction for making a false application for and receiving COVID-19 Payroll Protection loans. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General’s Office of Professional Responsibility investigated the case.

Southern California Woman Pleads Guilty to Fentanyl Distribution and Money Laundering Conspiracy

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Holly Danielle Adams, 34, of Indio, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and to conspiring to launder money. This case is the product of an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

U.S. Postal Service Employee Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Nearly $90,000 Worth of Postal Money Orders and Wire Fraud

BOSTON – A U.S. Postal Service employee was sentenced today for embezzling nearly $90,000 and for fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits. Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office made the announcement today.
