Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes.

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Post Office Employee Sentenced in Mail Theft Scheme

Erie County (NY) District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that Jeffrey Watkins, Jr., 29, of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to 6 months in jail followed by five years’ probation. He was also ordered to repay $ 31,114.43 in restitution upon his release. Convicted Felon Sentenced to Federal Prison for Bribing a Postal Employee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mark Shankle, 28, of Nashville, Tennessee, was sentenced Monday to 15 months in prison for paying a bribe to a public official, announced U.S. Attorney Don Cochran of the Middle District of Tennessee. Former Postal Worker Sentenced for Fraudulent Credit Cards

United States Attorney Joe Kelly announced that Domonic L. Harris, 44, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced September 14, 2018, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to nine months in prison by United States District Judge John M. Gerrard, for illegal transactions with an access device. In addition to his prison sentence, Harris will also serve two years on supervised release and pay $3,688.27 in restitution. Post Office Supervisor Sentenced for Theft of Mail

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A woman who worked as a supervisor in the post office in Shawnee Mission was sentenced Monday for stealing mail, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said. McAllister commended the U.S. Postal Service-Office of Inspector General and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tris Hunt for their work on the case.
