Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Postal Employee Sentenced for Destruction of U.S. Mail

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced today that JORRY HARRISON (“HARRISON”) , age 38, of Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced on July 31, 2025 to one year of probation. HARRISON previously pleaded guilty to destruction of mail, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1703(a).

St. Louis Postal Worker Admits Stealing Checks from Mail, Pandemic Fraud

ST. LOUIS – A former U.S. Postal Service mail handler on Wednesday admitted committing pandemic fraud and stealing checks from hundreds of pieces of mail. Anthony Virdure II, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of mail theft and one count of wire fraud.

Indianapolis felon sentenced to 175 months’ imprisonment for machine gun possession and mail theft scheme

INDIANAPOLIS – A district judge sentenced an Indianapolis felon to spend nearly 15 years in federal prison after he was found in possession of a machine gun and altered checks stolen from the mail valued at more than $1.2 million.

PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Tauheed Tucker, Cory Scott, and Alexander Telewoda were arrested and charged by superseding indictment with conspiracy to steal government funds, theft of government funds, and mail theft, arising from a multimillion-dollar scheme to steal U.S. Treasury checks from a local U.S. Postal Service (“USPS”) facility and then resell those checks to purchasers around the country.

Gettysburg Man Charged with Mail Theft

HARRISBURG - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that, on June 5, 2025, Harry Hartman, age 54, a resident of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was charged by criminal information with mail theft. The Information alleges that Hartman stole packages from the Gettysburg Post Office that were to be received by the Gettysburg College, Print Center & Post Office, and delivered, provided, or made available to intended recipients.
