A Message from Inspector General Tammy Whitcomb Hull
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is committed to an inclusive workplace free of discrimination. I am honored to reaffirm the agency’s commitment to fostering and supporting a workplace culture inclusive of all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, and any other non-merit factor.
Senior leadership understands that diversity of perspectives, ideas, and experiences is critical to the fulfillment of our mission. In support of this effort, we established the OIG Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Awareness (IDEA) Council to encourage and empower all employees to be their authentic selves in the workplace and to offer a safe space where their voices and concerns are heard.
The Council works in partnership with OIG leadership on all matters related to diversity, equity and inclusion and offers perspective on concerns raised by the OIG community. The council works with senior leadership to ensure that employees’ voices are heard, that they are treated equitably, and that they are given every opportunity to thrive.
OIG management is also expected to provide first-class leadership in supporting the agency’s equal employment practices in all facets of employment, including recruitment, hiring, retention, promotion, performance assessment, awards, and career-development opportunities.
OIG employees are afforded legal protections against Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) violations and have the right to raise allegations of discrimination. Employees who believe they have been discriminated against can exercise their right to file an EEO complaint or otherwise oppose unlawful discrimination, without fear of retaliation.
Compliance with non-discrimination policies is mandatory and an intrinsic value to the OIG. We must prevent and immediately correct any discriminatory conduct within our workplace. Working together, we will continue to thrive as an inclusive and diverse agency.
