Hearing Before the House Subcommittee on Government Operations

Waiting on the Mail: USPS Standard Drops in Baltimore and Surrounding Area

On February 14, 2022, Deputy Assistant Inspector General (DAIG) Melinda Perez testified before the House Subcommittee on Government Operations. This subcommittee falls under the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. The name of the hearing was “Waiting on the Mail: Postal Service Standard Drops in Baltimore and the Surrounding Area.”

DAIG Perez’s testimony focused on the OIG’s recent audits of nine Baltimore delivery units and the mail processing facility. She also talked about the OIG’s focus on service performance, including our service performance website, past reports, and ongoing work.

She fielded several questions from lawmakers regarding our Baltimore audits as well as topics including mail theft and the Postal Service’s Delivering for America plan.
