Julius Rothstein | Deputy Inspector General     

As Deputy Inspector General, Julius Rothstein is responsible for the Office of Investigation, Office of the Chief Information Officer, and the Chief Data Officer and Research Insights and Solutions Center (RISC). He joined the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General in January 2022 as the Deputy General Counsel, and became Deputy Inspector General in June 2022.

Prior to joining the OIG, Mr. Rothstein spent close to 30 years as a prosecutor. Immediately before his service with the OIG, he served as the Director of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Fusion Center, the largest federal law enforcement intelligence center in the Department of Justice. He also held leadership and senior prosecutor positions at Main Justice and with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, concentrating on transnational organized crime and terrorism.

Julius graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English Literature. He received his J.D. from the College of William and Mary School of Law. After graduation, he worked in private practice before becoming a local prosecutor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia and Virginia (inactive), and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as various Circuit Courts of Appeal.
