Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Danbury Postmaster Admits Operating Bribery, Kickback, and Embezzlement Scheme

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Kenneth Cleevely, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and Robert Fuller, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, today announced that on October 13, 2023, EPHREM D. NGUYEN, 50, formerly of Brookfield, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to a fraud offense.

Asphalt Paving Company and President Plead Guilty to Bid Rigging

A Michigan company and its president pleaded guilty today for their roles in two separate conspiracies to rig bids for asphalt paving services contracts in Michigan. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General assisted in the investigation.

Five Amazon Marketplace Sellers And Four Amazon Marketplace Companies Sentenced For Price Fixing

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Five individuals and four companies have been sentenced for participating in a conspiracy to fix the prices of DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs sold on the Amazon marketplace. This investigation has resulted in a total of six individual guilty pleas and four corporate guilty pleas. The case was investigated with the assistance of the FBI’s New York Field Office and the USPS Office of Inspector General’s Contract Fraud Investigations Division.

Red Ventures, LLC and MYMOVE, LLC Agree to Pay $2.75 Million to Resolve False Claims Act Allegations Arising from Agreements with the U.S. Postal Service

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Red Ventures, LLC and MYMOVE, LLC (together, “MYMOVE”) have agreed to pay the United States $2.75 million to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by knowingly withholding funds owed to the U.S. Postal Service (“USPS”) under contractual agreements connected to the USPS change of address process. The matter was investigated in conjunction with the USPS Office of Inspector General.

Two Amazon marketplace sellers and four of their companies have pleaded guilty to price fixing DVDs and Blu Ray Discs. The Antitrust Division’s Chicago Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee are prosecuting the case, which was investigated with the assistance of the FBI’s New York Field Office and the USPS Office of Inspector General’s Contract Fraud Investigations Division.
