What does the Postal Service do with OIG recommendations?

Reccomendations

In our reports, OIG audit teams make recommendations to the Postal Service to help improve its programs and operations. The Postal Service has an opportunity to respond to these recommendations. If they disagree, we work with them on a resolution that addresses the issues we identified.

We do not have the authority to implement operational changes. The OIG monitors Postal Service progress toward implementing all the recommendations we make. Recommendations are kept “open” as unresolved, and reported to Congress as such, until we receive sufficient documentation to show that the Postal Service has addressed identified challenges.
