Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Logan County Man Sentenced to Prison for Federal Drug Crime

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Anthony Ryan Webb, 42, of Logan County, was sentenced today to three years and four months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for the distribution of methamphetamine. United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the United States Postal Service-Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the West Virginia State Police.

Troutville Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA – A former resident of Troutville, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty in federal court to violation of federal narcotics and money laundering laws related to a nine-month Title III wiretap investigation into drug trafficking in and around the counties of Jefferson, Clearfield, and Allegheny, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today. The multi-agency investigation included the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

Bloomfield Man Charged with Drug Trafficking and Firearms Offenses

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and Ketty Larco-Ward, Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Boston Division, today announced that, a federal grand jury in New Haven has returned an indictment charging JOSEPH GIOVANNI SOTO, 32, of Bloomfield, with narcotics distribution and firearm possession offenses. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General assisted in the investigation.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announces a sentencing and a guilty plea in two cases the United States Attorney’s Office is prosecuting involving drug trafficking on the dark web. These cases are the product of investigations by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.

Former Postal Carrier Sentenced To Over Six Years For Distributing Cocaine Packages Sent To Her Postal Route

Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven has sentenced Nathasha Michelle Prieto (34, Bradenton) to six years and six months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Service – Office of Inspector General, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Manatee County Sherriff’s Office, and the Bradenton Police Department.
