Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Former U.S. Postal Service Maintenance Manager Sentenced in Federal Court for Stealing Cash from the Mail at Indianapolis Distribution Center

INDIANAPOLIS- Barry Gallon, 54, of McCordsville, has been sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to theft of mail matter by officer or employee, a felony criminal offense. The United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General investigated this case.

Former Postal Worker Pleads Guilty to Mail Theft

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that DAVID RAYFORD (“RAYFORD”), age 40, of Kenner, La., pled guilty on July 9, 2024, to Mail Theft. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.

Multiple-Time Convicted Felon and Former U.S. Postal Service Carrier Sentenced for Mail Theft

RICHMOND, Va. – A Richmond man was sentenced today to 20 months in prison for theft of mail by a USPS employee. Jeff Krafels, Special Agent in Charge of the Mid Atlantic Area Field Office for the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, made the announcement after sentencing by Senior U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson.

Postal Employee Charged With Destruction of Mail

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that JORRY HARRISON, age 36, of Houma, Louisiana, was indicted on July 11, 2024, for destruction of mail. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.

Two Former Postal Workers Charged with Stealing U.S. Treasury Checks Valued at more than $4 Million from Kennedy Airport Mail Facility

Two of the defendants, both former USPS employees, allegedly sold the checks which were stolen from a USPS mail facility located at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The Special Agents of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General will vigorously investigate Postal Service employees and their co-conspirators who break the public’s trust.
