Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Granite City Postal Carrier Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Credit Cards from the Mail

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – A southern Illinois district judge sentenced a postal carrier in Granite City to 32 months in federal prison after she admitted to stealing credit cards from the mail and using for personal expenses.

Postal Employee and Son Sentenced for Stealing Postal Money Orders Worth More Than $5 Million

SAN DIEGO – Former U.S. Postal Service employee Dewayne Morris Sr. and his son and namesake were sentenced today to seven years and 12.5 years in prison, respectively, for stealing $5.1 million in postal money order forms and distributing them to co-conspirators.

Postal Employee Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Stealing 47 U.S. Treasury Checks

RALEIGH, N.C. – Zerion Marcos Franklin was sentenced to 48 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release after stealing over $750,000 in treasury checks. Franklin was also ordered to pay restitution to the United States Treasury.

DeWitt Post Office Station Manager Indicted for Stealing Stamps

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Emilio Chirico, age 56, the Station Manager for the DeWitt, New York Post Office, has been charged by indictment with wire fraud, misappropriation of postal funds, and false entries and reports, announced United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Matthew Modafferi of the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General (USPS-OIG).

Postal Service Supervisor Arrested on Complaint Alleging Theft of $281,000 in Checks from Mail then Deposited into Her Bank Accounts

SANTA ANA, California – A United States Postal Service supervisor was arrested this morning on a federal criminal complaint alleging she stole more than 20 checks from the U.S. mail and deposited them into her accounts at multiple different banks.
