NEW ORLEANS , LOUISIANA –TOI SMITH, age 26, a resident of New Orleans, pled guilty on January 30, 2024 to theft of mail by a postal employee, SMITH’S sentencing is set for May 14, 2024. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman of the General Crimes Unit is in charge of the prosecution.

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that SHAKEITHA WILEY, age 41, of New Orleans, was indicted for mail theft. WILEY, a postal employee, stole gift cards from the mail and used those gift cards at a local store. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.

GREAT FALLS — A Great Falls woman who admitted to possessing stolen mail and wire fraud while working as a postal service contract driver was sentenced today to three years of probation and ordered to pay $5,641 restitution. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Marlene Cruz pleaded guilty to theft of mail matter by employee. In January 2022, USPS received complaints from individuals stating that their mail had been tampered with. Cruz worked the mail route involving the complaints. Cruz routinely opened envelopes and parcels, removing items on dozens of occasions. U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, under the direction of Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent-in-Charge Northeast Field Office.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A former Anchorage USPS mail carrier was arrested yesterday in Missouri for allegedly stealing checks from the mail for personal gain. Nha Xiong, 25, altered bank checks, typically with Whiteout, and wrote his name on the checks, making it appear as if the checks were made out to him, then deposit the altered checks into his bank account. Executive Special Agent in Charge Kenneth Bulle of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General made the announcement.
