On February 2, 2023, Women in Logistics and Delivery Services (WILDS) honored Tammy Hull, Inspector General of the U.S. Postal Service, with the second annual Megan J. Brennan Award for Excellence. This award is presented to individuals who embody the leadership traits that Ms. Brennan demonstrated during her tenure as the 74th postmaster general of the U.S. Postal Service.

“It is such an honor to receive an Award for Excellence, and especially an award named after Megan Brennan, the first female postmaster general,” said IG Hull. “I have so much respect for Megan and the things she accomplished throughout her career.  And I also have so much respect for all the women who work at every level in logistics and delivery industries.”

“Tammy Hull is an outstanding leader of a multi-faceted organization,” said Ruth Goldway, co-founder of WILDS, a nonprofit promoting women’s leadership in the postal, delivery, and logistics industries. “Under her leadership, the OIG has provided the highest level of technical analyses and challenged the industry by issuing thought-provoking research.”

In accepting the award, IG Hull added that a good leader needs to value their employees, stating, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without my employees making me look so good.” She also stressed that, in order to be a successful leader, it is important to work collaboratively and embrace innovation.

In closing, IG Hull spoke directly to potential future leaders. “Don’t be afraid to take risks and learn new things.”
