Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Philadelphia Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Role in Drug Trafficking Organization

CAMDEN, N.J. – A manager for a drug trafficking organization that purchased over 100 kilograms of cocaine in Puerto Rico and shipped the kilograms to residences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey was sentenced to 120 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy. U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited agents of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office, under the leadership of Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi.

New Britain Man Sentenced to More Than 11 Years in Prison for Trafficking Fentanyl and Cocaine

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that RAMON RAMOS-ACEVEDO was sentenced today to 135 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for his trafficking fentanyl and cocaine. This investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Service – Office of the Inspector General.

Postal Service Supervisor Admits Misappropriation of Postal Funds

CAMDEN, N.J. – A Cape May County, New Jersey, man today admitted misappropriating postal funds, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Austin T. Mahan pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn to an information charging him with misappropriating over $1,000 in postal funds. U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited agents of the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi.

Former postal manager who stole drugs from the mail pleads guilty to drug and gun charges

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Ralph Minni pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance. The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a $5,000,000 fine. The plea is a result of an investigation by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia of the Northeast Area

New Jersey company and CEO pay $316,779 for defrauding U.S. Postal Service following wire fraud conviction

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Cornerstone Facility Solutions, LLC (Cornerstone), a maintenance and repair service located in Brick, New Jersey, and its CEO, Paul Galgon III, paid $316,779 to resolve their False Claims Act liability for falsifying invoices and inflating the cost of services provided to the USPS. The USPS Office of Inspector General investigated this case.
