Elizabeth P. “Lisa” Martin | Deputy Inspector General - Chief DEI Officer

As Deputy Inspector General, Lisa Martin is responsible for the Offices of Audit, General Counsel and Mission Support. She joined the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General in September 2004 as the General Counsel and became Deputy Inspector General in June 2022. She has also served as the agency’s Chief Diversity Officer since the position’s creation in 2021.

Before joining the OIG, Ms. Martin was with the U.S. Postal Service’s Law Department. She began as a staff attorney in the Consumer Protection and Enforcement divisions, working with Postal Inspectors and handling various areas affecting the Postal Service, including marketing, privacy, fraud, aviation security, and hazardous materials.

Ms. Martin graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in History and Public Policy Studies. She received her J.D. from the University of Texas. After graduation, she clerked in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia and Texas (inactive), and admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as various Circuit Courts of Appeal.
