Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes.

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Three Brothers Convicted of Multi-District Scheme to Defraud the United States Postal Service, UPS and Citizens Bank

PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced that three brothers, were convicted today at trial of mail fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering conspiracy charges arising from their scheme to defraud and obtain money from the United States Postal Service, UPS and Citizens Bank. The USPS Office of Inspector General (USPS OIG) among other agencies investigated the case.

Carnegie Resident Sentenced to 11 Years of Imprisonment for Violating Federal Narcotics Laws

PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Carnegie, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to 11 years of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release on his conviction for violating federal narcotics laws. The Drug Enforcement Administration led the multi-agency investigation with the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General and other agencies.

Los Angeles Case Part of Largest International Operation Against Darknet Trafficking of Fentanyl and Opioids

Essex County Man Sentenced to 82 Months in Prison for Using Credit Cards Stolen from U.S. Mail to Defraud Banks and Commit Identity Theft

NEWARK, N.J. – An Essex County, New Jersey, man was sentenced today to 82 months in prison, three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $330,391 in restitution for his role in scheming with at least one U.S. Postal Service (USPS) employee and others to steal credit cards from the mail and then steal victims’ identities in order to use the stolen cards to make hundreds of thousands of dollars of retail and online purchases. Physician and pharmacy settle claims for unnecessary medications

HOUSTON – A 61-year-old doctor and a compounding pharmacy he operates paid the United States $7.9m to resolve claims they improperly billed the Department of Labor, Office of Workers’ Compensation Program (DOL-OWCP). Hamdani. Dr. Ajay Kumar Aggarwal and Medley Compounding Pharmacy LLC knowingly and willfully submitted, or caused the submission of, false claims to DOL-OWCP.
