The OIG’s Office of Audit conducts and supervises objective, independent audits and reviews of USPS programs and operations to:
Prevent and detect fraud, waste, and misconduct;
Promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness;
Promote program integrity; and
Keep the Board of Governors, Congress, and USPS management informed of problems, deficiencies, and corresponding corrective actions.
OIG auditors conduct field operations reviews at select plant and delivery units in specific areas around the country. The reviews consist of reports for delivery units and the processing and distribution center that serves them.
