Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Texas Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Jackson, Miss. - A Houston, Texas man pleaded guilty today to conspiring with others in the Southern District of Mississippi to possess with intent to distribute approximately one pound of a substance containing methamphetamine. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi, Inspector in Charge Scott Pierce of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Southern Area Field Office made the announcement.

Former California Resident Sentenced to 13 Years of Imprisonment for Violating Federal Narcotics Laws

PITTSBURGH, PA – A former resident of Stockton, California has been sentenced in federal court to 13 years of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release on his conviction for violating federal narcotics laws. U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Internal Revenue Services, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and Allegheny County Police.

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Kenneth Cleevely, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and Robert Fuller, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, today announced that on October 13, 2023, EPHREM D. NGUYEN, 50, formerly of Brookfield, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to a fraud offense.

Former Postal Employee Pleads Guilty to Delaying and Stealing the Contents of U.S. Mail

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced today that DAZMON DYER, age 30, a resident of New Orleans, pleaded guilty on October 12, 2023 to a two-count indictment charging him with delay of U.S. mail and theft of U.S. mail matter by a postal employee, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1703 and 1709. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.

Annual Awards Ceremony Held to Recognize Outstanding Performances by Western Pennsylvania Law Enforcement and Prosecutors

PITTSBURGH - The Law Enforcement Agency Directors (LEAD) of Western Pennsylvania recognized dozens of area law enforcement officers and prosecutors during its 25th Annual LEAD Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 5, 2023, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is a member agency of LEAD.
