Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Medford Contractor Sentenced for Tax Evasion and Filing False Loan Applications

BOSTON – The owner of a local excavation and plowing company was sentenced today in connection with a multi-year scheme to underreport income on his tax returns and to obtain loans based on false loan applications. The United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General provided valuable assistance.

Florida Woman’s 10-year Sentence Ends Drug Conspiracy Case

HARRISONBURG, Va. – A Florida woman, the ninth and final defendant to be sentenced as part of a large methamphetamine conspiracy, was sentenced this week to 10 years in federal prison. The United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General assisted the investigation.

Butler Resident Indicted on a Charge of Violating Federal Postal Laws

PITTSBURGH, PA - A resident of Butler, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal postal laws, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today. The United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.

Texas Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Jackson, Miss. - A Houston, Texas man pleaded guilty today to conspiring with others in the Southern District of Mississippi to possess with intent to distribute approximately one pound of a substance containing methamphetamine. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi, Inspector in Charge Scott Pierce of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Southern Area Field Office made the announcement.

Former California Resident Sentenced to 13 Years of Imprisonment for Violating Federal Narcotics Laws

PITTSBURGH, PA – A former resident of Stockton, California has been sentenced in federal court to 13 years of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release on his conviction for violating federal narcotics laws. U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Internal Revenue Services, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and Allegheny County Police.
