Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Former U.S. Postal Service Employee Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Mail

SHAWN R. FULLER, 37, of West Haven, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven to 12 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for stealing mail while he was a U.S. Postal Service employee. This matter was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service – Office of the Inspector General.

A federal grand jury in New Haven has returned a 10-count indictment charging KIERRA BLOUNT, 34, of Stamford, with fraud, identity theft, and mail theft offenses.

Former Richmond postal carrier sentenced to prison for stealing mail

RICHMOND, Va. – A former postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Richmond was sentenced today to one year and one month in prison for theft of mail. Jeff Krafels, Special Agent in Charge of the Mid Atlantic Area Field Office for the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General made the announcement after sentencing.

USPS Mail Carrier Arrested For Targeting Victims On Mail Route In Fraud And Identity Theft Scheme

TAMEKA BABULAL a United States Postal Service mail carrier in Mount Vernon, New York, was arrested for stealing credit cards, checks, and identities from the mail in order to carry out a scheme and conspiracy to fraudulently steal money from individuals and financial institutions. Mr. Williams praised the outstanding investigative work of the Northeast Area Field Office of the USPS-OIG.

Three Facing Federal Charges for Metro East Mail Theft Scheme

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – A federal grand jury returned a 10-count indictment charging three individuals with various crimes for their alleged involvement in a mail theft scheme from collection boxes in Fairview Heights. Agents with the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General contributed to the investigation.
