Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Jury Convicts Tampa Woman Of Defrauding Government Of Federal Benefits

Tampa, Florida – A federal jury has found Shirin Marshall (55, Tampa) guilty of four counts of mail fraud. In August 2000, Marshall claimed a back and shoulder injury while working as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier, she filed a subsequent claim related to workplace stress. Morris County Woman Admits Compensation Fraud

NEWARK, N.J. – A Morris County, New Jersey, woman employed by the U.S. Postal Service today admitted making false statements in several claim forms seeking disability compensation. Pamela VanSyckle, pleaded guilty to one count of federal employee compensation fraud. During the time in which she received disability benefits, VanSyckle was in fact working as the owner and operator of a travel agency. Orthopedic Surgeon Convicted of Health Care Fraud

BOSTON – A Canton orthopedic surgeon has been convicted by a federal jury in Boston for his role in a health care fraud scheme. Dr. Olarewaju James Oladipo, 60, of Canton, was convicted on Dec. 12, 2023 of 10 counts of health care fraud. U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs scheduled sentencing for March 12, 2024 at 1 pm. Oladipo was arrested and charged in March 2022. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, and USPS-OIG SAC Modafferi made the announcement.

Pharmacy Owners and Doctor Convicted for $145M Health Care Fraud, Money Laundering, and Tax Evasion Scheme

A federal jury convicted three Texas men yesterday for a $145 million scheme to defraud the DOL through the submission of fraudulent claims for prescription compound creams. Dehshid Nourian and Christopher Rydberg conspired to pay Dr. Michael Taba to prescribe medically unnecessary compound creams to injured federal workers. The USPS-OIG, DOL-OIG, VA-OIG, and IRS-CI investigated the case.
