Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Former U.S. Postal Service Mail Carrier Indicted for Theft of Postal Customers’ Prescription Drugs

BOSTON – A former U.S. Postal Service (USPS) employee has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly stealing packages containing prescription medications from postal customers on his route. Michael Vernon, 52, of Somerville, Mass. has been indicted on one count of theft of mail by an officer or employee. Vernon was arrested this morning and will appear in federal court in Boston at 2:45 PM today.

Georgia Man Admits Trafficking Methamphetamine Pills to Connecticut

David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that TYRONE BROWN, 33, of Lithonia, Georgia, pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to a methamphetamine trafficking offense. According to court documents and statements made in court, between approximately January 2022 and March 2024, Brown mailed parcels containing methamphetamine pills from Georgia to addresses in New Haven associated with Gregory Grant and others.

Houston doctor agrees to pay over $2 million to settle allegations of fraudulent billing of federal programs

HOUSTON – A 63-year-old Houston man has agreed to pay $2,053,515 to resolve allegations he submitted false claims to federally funded health care programs for the surgical implantation of neurostimulator electrodes, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

Kansas City man sentenced for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A Kansas man was sentenced to 46 months in prison for drug trafficking stemming from an investigation into multiple fentanyl overdoses. According to court documents, Rayvon Porter, 33, of Kansas City, Kansas, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl.

Three People Sentenced to Prison for Distributing Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Nitazenes

MIAMI – Three South Florida residents have been sentenced to federal prison for distributing methamphetamine, fentanyl and nitazenes, after pleading guilty to a charge of conspiring to distribute fentanyl and N-Pyrrolidino Protonitazene. On July 30, Josue David Balaguer, 35, of Hollywood, Florida, was sentenced to 141 months in federal prison.
