Working with our Law Enforcement Partners

Our special agents investigate nationwide internal crimes and fraud committed by postal employees and contractors as well as postal employee misconduct. We work with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and local prosecutors across the country to prosecute these crimes. 

In some instances, we uncover much larger criminal activity being carried out by multiple individuals and organizations. In many of these cases, we partner with other federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and hold responsible those who take advantage of the public’s trust in our postal system.

Madison County Man Pleads Guilty to Receipt and Possession of Child Pornography

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Ryan Berte, age 33, of Eaton, New York, pled guilty yesterday to receiving and possessing hundreds of images and videos of child pornography announced United States Attorney Carla B. Philadelphia, PA Postal Workers Agree to Repay Fraudulently Obtained Unemployment Benefits

PHILADELPHIA, PA – United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced that Jaire Chance, 27, of Philadelphia, has agreed to a consent judgment of $100,399, and Robert Day, 42, of Center Valley, Lehigh County, has agreed to a consent judgment of $110,610 to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by improperly seeking Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits when they were employed by the United States Postal Service.

Former USPS Employee Sentenced to 30 Months for Stealing Money Orders Valued at Over $4M

Earlier today, in federal court in Brooklyn, Jaleesa Wallace was sentenced by United States District Judge Carol Bagley Amon to 30 months in prison for postal theft. As part of her sentence, Wallace was also ordered to pay over $4 million in restitution. “The defendant exploited her position with one of our most trusted institutions, the United States Postal Service, for her own personal gain and caused significant losses to financial institutions,” stated United States Attorney Peace.

Former Engineering Executive Sentenced for Rigging Bids and Defrauding North Carolina Department of Transportation

A former executive of Contech Engineered Solutions LLC was sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment yesterday in New Bern, North Carolina, for his participation in bid-rigging and fraud schemes targeting the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Harrisburg Man Charged With Mail Thefts And Fraud

HARRISBURG - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Princeton Flagg-Garrett, age 28, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was indicted on February 19, 2020, by a federal grand jury on bank fraud, aggravated identity theft and obstruction of correspondence charges. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) and the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG).
