Informed on Informed Delivery

Date: 08/24/20 | Category: Products & Services

Say you run a business – a big one – and you come up with a new product, one you believe can benefit millions of potential customers. When it becomes available, you want to make sure your salespeople can tell customers about it…right?

Three years ago, the U.S. Postal Service rolled out Informed Delivery, a free feature which allows customers to digitally preview their letter mail and package delivery via email notifications, online dashboard, or mobile application. Postal Service Headquarters staff from Corporate Communications and Delivery and Retail Operations provided instructions to employees at USPS retail facilities on how to direct customers to sign up. So how did they do?

Pretty well, as it turned out. As we noted in our recent audit report, retail window employees at 33 of 34 of the randomly selected retail units our auditors visited correctly referred us to the Postal Service’s Informed Delivery website when asked about how to sign up. At the one facility where the employee incorrectly responded to our inquiry, local management took immediate corrective actions. Postal Service managers and staff we spoke with at the headquarters, area, district, and local levels attributed these positive results to the quality of communication provided about Informed Delivery.

Have you inquired about Informed Delivery or another USPS product or service at a post office? Did you receive helpful answers? Let us know and comment below!

NOTE: Unfortunately, the OIG cannot help with delayed or overdue stimulus checks. Please address concerns to the Postal Service’s Consumer & Industry Contact Office Locator (formerly Consumer Affairs). Thank you.

I know that the name and address are blocked out from the IRS letters but there were three identical letters scanned saying coming to a mailbox for you in the bottom left corner I looked up the return address and it is the IRS debit card. I was wondering if there was a scam or anything again I don't know who it would go to since the IRS or you cover it when scanning

Yes...Informed delivery read I was to get EIP (I can see envelope). Said it came yesterday. NOPE. I was monitoring the mailbox all day. NO ONE took it.
USPS mail person is a thief?

Much like everyone else on here, we received an image of the EIP envelope on April 16th. Today is April 29th and still nothing. Interestingly enough, Get My Payment still shows that we are eligible but there is no date. It goes on to say that the check will be direct deposited into our account. Has anyone else seen this? We are unsure who to call. I spoke with our local post master and he said to give it until tomorrow. That will be two weeks. The scanned envelope did not have our names or address. It was a generic Anyone, Any town, etc. Is that what the EIP envelopes really look like or would they have our names and addresses? Surely someone has answers.

If you didn't get it that day it said it was going to be there then it must have gotten put in someone else's mailbox because I check my email box daily and everything that says is going to me shows up that day I got two of the EIP cards sent here and each time the informed delivery blanks out the name and address. So if you didn't get it in your mailbox then they accidentally put it in someone's mailbox

The same thing happened to me, I was so confused on why the scanned envelope says anytown, anywhere 1234. But that mail was never delivered to me and I asked my nearest post office agents and they told me that they haven’t received the stimulus checks. I’m so confused because it’s it’s been a month since March 26 and I stilled haven’t received mines, hopefully we are getting a plus up payment.

I received a notice from informed delivery that my stimulus check was arriving on April 23, along with another piece of mail, I waited for the mailwoman and she only gave me one piece of mail and no stimulus check. Today makes 5 days since I receive notice stating stimulus was on it’s way. I thought this was an isolated case but now I see I’m not the only one. I received every other mail that ID said was coming except the stimulus, something seems very sinister

Hi, it showed on my informed delivery that my economic impact payment card was part of my mail in the beginning of April while my mail was on mail hold. I have been picking up my mail since than and no card. Since than I have moved and updated my address to my new address. Any help locating where my card went?

so I also received information saying my check was mailed out April 2nd I patiently waited on the 12th of April I received another message but from Informed Delivery that I should be receiving a piece of mail from the US treasury. I waited nothing days went by I checked my mail box called my local post office called the irs nothing. So I placed a complaint with the postal office I then received a call from a postal office tech telling me to call the irs that I never received a stimulus. Okay I then call the irs who searches my information up and just tells me to keep waiting because it has been sent out. At this point I believe the postal office has something to do with this because it makes absolutely no sense what's going on.
