Informed on Informed Delivery

Date: 08/24/20 | Category: Products & Services

Say you run a business – a big one – and you come up with a new product, one you believe can benefit millions of potential customers. When it becomes available, you want to make sure your salespeople can tell customers about it…right?

Three years ago, the U.S. Postal Service rolled out Informed Delivery, a free feature which allows customers to digitally preview their letter mail and package delivery via email notifications, online dashboard, or mobile application. Postal Service Headquarters staff from Corporate Communications and Delivery and Retail Operations provided instructions to employees at USPS retail facilities on how to direct customers to sign up. So how did they do?

Pretty well, as it turned out. As we noted in our recent audit report, retail window employees at 33 of 34 of the randomly selected retail units our auditors visited correctly referred us to the Postal Service’s Informed Delivery website when asked about how to sign up. At the one facility where the employee incorrectly responded to our inquiry, local management took immediate corrective actions. Postal Service managers and staff we spoke with at the headquarters, area, district, and local levels attributed these positive results to the quality of communication provided about Informed Delivery.

Have you inquired about Informed Delivery or another USPS product or service at a post office? Did you receive helpful answers? Let us know and comment below!

NOTE: Unfortunately, the OIG cannot help with delayed or overdue stimulus checks. Please address concerns to the Postal Service’s Consumer & Industry Contact Office Locator (formerly Consumer Affairs). Thank you.

Why do I receive an Informed Delivery e-mail on Sundays? The USPS has lost common sense in many areas.

When you read the informed delivery emails it says that the items are 'coming to your mailbox soon', not that day. So those items were most likely processed in the mail system somewhat recently, hence the email.

any time I receive the ID email, it’s always told me what I’ll be getting that specific day, not sometime soon.

Wrong. Heading says Coming Soon. Directly above scanned mail it says "today" and in parentheses denotes number of mail pieces for that very day.

I think usps did a excellent job with informing the public on signing up with informed delivery whether it was in person at a local postal station or a usps post card. United states postal workers are true heroes and they deserve more credit than what we actually know for every thing they do. Thank you

My name is Diane I receive informed delivery mail on my phone. It shows that I'm getting five pieces of mail. But there will be only one meal. It shows that I'm getting three pieces of mail. But I'm getting zero mail. It would show that I'm getting seven pieces of mail. And I make it too. Somebody is putting something in the system. Stopping my mail from getting to me. Very important meal I am not receiving. Someone is stopping my mail at the post office with this informed delivery. Not showing up all the mail that I supposed to be receiving. It puts all my bills. But important mail someone is taking my mail. And opening some of my mail. And putting it back without the things that supposed to be in the package. Informed delivery supposed to show you all your mail. That you are getting that day. It shows me that I'm getting mail. But not all my mail is there. Someone at the post office is interfering with the mail. Mostly credit cards health cards from your benefits. Social security mail. And other personal mail someone is interfering with my mail at the post office.

I STOPPED RECEIVING INFORMED DELIVERY EMAIL NOTICES W/ MAIL IMAGES.
If I log into my account online after I receive mail, the mail images are shown,
but NO INFORMED DELIVERY EMAIL NOTICES WERE SENT TO ME BEFOREHAND.
I get ALL OTHER EMAIL updates checked off in Package Notification Options,
BUT NOT the daily update with mail images like before.

If it's my fault, tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I have received INFORMED DELIVERY EMAIL NOTICES W/ MAIL IMAGES previously and consistently with no problems.
