The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted our country in ways that were unimaginable months ago. It is changing how people across the U.S. and around the world are working, shopping, even interacting with one another. States have ordered many stores and businesses to close. Businesses that continue to operate are faced with protecting their employees and customers, while coming up with creative ways to market and deliver their products.

The Postal Service continues to serve the public, operating on the front line, fulfilling the universal service obligation to deliver to every house and business every day. USPS is finding itself serving a population that is relying on it now more than ever. For many home-bound and quarantined people, home delivery is the only source for medicine and other vital supplies. During this time, the Postal Service has also prioritized the safety of its employees and customers.

We recognize the reality of the pandemic and have adapted our operations to maintain continuity while ensuring the safety of our employees. We are taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees, using technology whenever possible. As we have told our employees, we also ask you to follow CDC guidelines, remain home as much as possible, and stay safe.

For questions or concerns about delivery during the pandemic, please go to usps.com to track mail or get information from the USPS Coronavirus FAQs page.

Postal Service employees, for work-related complaints or issues, please use our Hotline to let us know.

How do I apply for Covid-19 disability benefits?

I just came from the DC Post Office on MacArthur Boulevard and the postal worker behind the desk did not have a mask on and neither did the postal worker who was visiting the office. I am appalled that they were not wearing masks.

I have been expecting a package for 2 months now. It has been stuck in Chicago for a month now. I needed this for work, I am past the 3 weeks anticipated delay that I prepared for. This is inexcusable, even for a "virus" that lives on a surface per CDC for only about 5 days max. I am beginning to think that USPS doesn't need funding since they are acting like they can't handle their jobs anyway. Leave packages to the big boys, like Amazon, UPS, even Fedex is shining brighter. This Chicago plant has been an issue for years. Inspector General has even noted it in the past that they were inefficient by 80%. So why has there been nothing done about management there or the employees who are bragging about pay without having to work these last several months?

I sent two packages on July 5th and they have been stuck/lost at Los Angeles airport distribution center. I have tried to call and talk to someone about this but the automated system will not allow that. I’m understand with COVID that things may take longer but why offer priority shipping..? If someone would so kindly reach out and offer insight if the package is most likely lost or if this is just the new pace of sending a package in North America.

The USA is no longer a first world nation. The standard of the postal service have fallen to abysmal levels. Its literally a %50 shot that I'll receive anything correctly anymore and that was pre-covid

I ordered airsoft parts online from the states (I'm Canadian) on July 12 and selected USPS Priority and its been a month now. For 3 weeks my package has read "in transit" after being in a Chicago Intl Distribution Center. I want my stuff! When trying to make an inquiry it wont even let me select the date I ordered it on because it was a Sunday. This system is flawed and Covid-19 isn't an excuse to fail.

My husband has a package in customs in Chicago and the 24 days is up when delivery was expected due to pandemic. It's been in customs over a week but ordered and paid express delivery on July 7th. I'm so sick of this!!!

My business uses USPS delivery every day and until recently I haven't had many problems, but low and behold now that our President is complaining of mail fraud possibilities and our Inspector General is a Trump support my mail is being delayed and lost almost on a daily basis. Please help resolve this issue! I understand there is a pandemic, but mail was traveling fine until recently!

I have visited the Noble, OK office a few times in the past couple months and although there are now signs on the door saying masks are REQUIRED, the worker at the desk (a big dark haired man) doesnt wear one. HE IS DANGEROUS! if yiu have someone who "cant" wear a mask they shouldnt work the desk handling hundreds or thousands of people's mail daily. he's typhoid mary/covid mike waiting to happen. please make them protect us all!! i cqn avoid many things, but not picking up mail! who can customers report these blatant disregards for safety to?

i shipped out a package at the beginning of July and it is currently sitting at the LA ISC. I haven't gotten an update in almost a month. All it has said for the past three weeks is "Your item was processed through our LOS ANGELES CA INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER facility on July 26, 2020 at 7:09 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination." Package is heading to Canada and customer is getting antsy. There is no ETA and all i got out of calling customer service was that they have to wait for a plane. JUST SOME INSIGHT OR AN ETA WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU! also- i appreciate every usps worker that is working through this pandemic. <3

I’m literally in the same Boat! Sent a package on July 5th from Phoenix Arizona arrive in LA on the 7th and still hasn’t moved in over a month...this is a little crazy! If you under promise and over deliver customers won’t be mad but to say shipping times will only change by a few days is an absolute lie. I feel your pain! I sent my 87yo grandmother a birthday gift a month before her birthday and now it won’t be there on time

Thank you Trump for putting a new head of USPS that clearly has conflicting interest to the well-being of the company because he is invested in competitors. Thank you for cutting workers and any overtime pay to address the serious influx of mail due to covid and delaying everything. I am glad the USPS which is an American Institution is being misappropriated for grossly unethical means.

It is clearly Trump’s fault. You’re misinformed or delusional if you don’t see it. Don’t worry though. I’ve lost faith in this country and I’m sure he’ll be re-elected. Enjoy paying $20 minimum for shipping once Trump kills USPS and we have to rely on private companies like UPS and FedEx.

My international package shipped on May, okay, I wait almost 2 months to get it updated of arrived at New York. But since the package arrived on July 5th, no further updates anymore!!! What the heck the customs are doing? I understand the COVID-19 pandemic due to the package delay, but for over a month with no update?! I hand another package arrived on July 7 and it came out from custom just one day after, and this package for over a month?! This is ridiculous!!

I live in Vero Beach Florida and my mail carrier does not wear a mask. I find this alarming as I suffer from an auto immune disorder that could be a death sentence if I were to contract Covid -19. In fact my entire community is at risk from this careless woman. Is there anything that can be done to convince carriers of the danger they pose to others as well as to themselves and their families, by the contact they have with every household on their route?

It seems like thousands of people across the nation are experiencing late packages woth no update on tracking. For the majority of us the last status was "in transit, arriving late". I personally have 2 priority packages that were sent from the same city 2 weeks ago. Never arrived. Nobody responds to emails or calls. Local post says its the sender local posts problem. What in the heck is going on with the USPS?

    Aug 05, 2020

There was never any system set up to report a delay. At each step when a scan is made that is the report that it is going to the next step. So stations receive a piece and scan a manifest which says it is there. Now it hits a back log because 50% staffs due to quarantines coinciding with vacation season and we just can't get to it. So the next scan comes, 5 days later in my zone, when we rotate to that pile and it goes out for delivery that day. Now when we are out there approaching the 12th hour of the day when we are not supposed to be working past 12, or perhaps 8 hours in the near future and we bring stuff back we are left with an unscanned piece. Due to our dysfunctional zero defect culture then comes the scan with the false reason for non delivery because we have no way to scan and say we just ran out of man hours and truck space.

Since the covid panic began in March, suddenly packages from Amazon are getting lost. This used to rarely happen with Amazon Prime shipping. Are postal workers so angry they are giving package away to wrong address? Or throwing them away? What the heck is really going on? And do NOT blame Trump because if one does there research they will see that USPS has been in big trouble way before he was elected!

    Aug 05, 2020

    Its because of Trump

    Aug 10, 2020
  • anon

You are the one that clearly needs to do their research. The USPS was made to fully fund their pension into the future...which means they have to have money for employees not even hired yet. This is a requirement no other business has, public or private and is purposefully making the USPS show negative on paper. They are very profitable otherwise.

Given the potential for asymptomatic transmission of SARS-CoV-2, HCP providing in-person care to patients not suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 should follow recommended infection control practices to prevent transmission of infectious agents and infection control practices specific to COVID-19. CDC has provided specific considerations for care of patients not suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 when there are moderate or substantial levels of community transmission.

NOT YET RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL PACKAGE- I am still waiting to receive my package mailed from The Netherlands on May 14th. After the mailing date, I got no information via the USPS tracking site and it seemed as though there was no movement at all after the package was mailed!! Suddenly, on July 21st USPS tracking said Inbound out of customs and then it arrived at the Chicago ISC distribution center. Then a few days later it said "Your package is moving within USPS network and on track to be delivered to the final destination. It is in transit to the next facility" This was on July 25th. Again, no movement after that till date. 10 weeks after the package was mailed, I still haven't received it. This is super frustrating to have to wait at every step with no proper updates! When I called USPS, I get conflicting answers. One agent said possibly an address problem so it can't be delivered!!!? How is that even possible when I have regularly receive packages from this sender to the same address without any issues?! Another agent said due to COVID-19, delays are bound to happen and now I have to wait patiently to receive it but can give NO ETA. Basically, there's no clear information and I am being asked to wait with NO END in sight! Can someone help fix this problem so that I can get my package delivered as soon as possible? Thank you!

Exactly same problem. Since arriving at Chicago usps distribution center on july 21, no updates except that it is in transit to the next facility as of July 25. What a crock. Local usps office says it is going to a second customs office in a different city. Why does it have to go through customs twice? I don't believe they're telling the truth.

I buy quite a bit internationally and am frustrated and wondering what the issue is too. At first I thought it was a delay outside the use but I looked up the all the shipping history. Most packages arrive to the states in 3-10 days. Once in the hands of USPS they spend 2-4 weeks at each USPS facility. Each package normally goes threw 3 facilities a shipment.

having the exact same issue. Item shipped from Russia 4/20, finally made it into US July 1st, left Chicago July 13th and since then it has said In transit to the next facility. Absolutely no movement. so frustrating

I have this exact same problem. I currently have three packages waiting in Chicago from Canada and they haven't moved since mid July. I understand they likely are having delays but I had another package from Canada shipped after these that I have received... So what is the priority or process here? Can I at least get an update on top when those packages are planning on leaving Chicago since they already cleared customs?

According to the article below you have extended delivery times for basically most all types of mail. Contrary to what is stated, First Class Mail has also been and continues to be delayed. Well, we are still paying the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY! So either you lower rates to adjust for the difference or hire more drivers and buy more vehicles to get the mail delivered ON TIME! There is no excuse for me paying the same and getting less. We all should get a refund for every letter and package that's late for which we have to pay for postage/shipping costs. Your excuse for not fulfilling the service obligation that you are advertising is grounds for a Class Action Suit and USPS needs to get on the ball and deliver the mail as advertised or lower the rates to compensate for service not rendered or... get a new PMG. You provide a delivery date and then at the last moment, change it to "arriving late or delayed delivery" with absolutely NO explanation being provided to the customers. UNACCEPTABLE. The Post Master General needs to be put on notice as of now. He is paid $291,650 a year to get the job done and this ain't cutting it! Congress is aware of his careless attitude and so are USPS customers. As per USPS WEBSITE: "USPS® Coronavirus Updates: Expected Delivery Changes USPS products and packages may require more time to be delivered due to limited transportation availability as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 impacts. Apr 17, 2020•FAQ Article Number 000004253 Customer Information I understand some of my mail delivery may be delayed? Why? Postal Service Priority Mail® products and First-Class® packages may temporarily require more time to be delivered due to limited transportation availability as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. When will this happen? This change is effective April 17, 2020. How will this affect delivery of Priority Mail? Priority Mail's two-day and three-day service commitments will be extended to three days and four days, respectively. Customers will continue to receive improved product tracking and as much as $50 in free insurance. Will this affect delivery of Priority Mail Express®? Priority Mail Express service, which guarantees overnight service, and one-day service commitments for Priority Mail will not change. Will First-Class Mail be delayed too? There is no impact to First-Class letters and flats. However, First-Class Package Service® two and three day service commitments will be extended to three and four days respectively.

There is a BIG impact on first class delivery. They still say it only takes 2-3 days to mail a letter in the same State, however, they can say what they want, but for the last 5 months everything I mail in-state takes a minimum of 10 yes TEN DAYS. It's getting sick, most the time I don't even get invoices in time to get them in the mail and back to its destination before I'm getting late charges. The post office should be paying those late fees, or get the mail to where it's suppose to go.

Of course there are going to be delays, the USPS is dealing with monumental Christmas Volumes without any of the supplemental workforce that is hired during the peak holiday season. Employees are taking COVID leave to take care of family members, employees are encouraged to stay home if they feel sick to prevent the spread of the virus in case they have it. short staffing and and an increase in volume is hurting the customers and also the employees who are working massive overtime, regardless of what the PMG says there is LOTS of overtime. your one package is important to you but look at it as a grain of sand on the beach..... In fiscal year 2019, the Postal Service delivered 143 billion pieces of mail to 160 million delivery addresses and operated more than 31,000 Post Offices. over 600,000 employees still working are considered essential workers.

Now, the post office is using COVID as an excuse to screw around with people's deliveries. This is getting ridiculous. First Amazon did it. Then, along came the price gougers and scalpers with their extortion. Now, the Post Office, too? I am SO tired of COVID being just about every business's excuse to slack off. Triple the time consuming pieces, each requiring an individual scan with half the staff due to quarantines. Even if you don't believe that the virus is real people, including essential postal workers are required to isolate and not work. Star Trek might be able to techno babble a solution but not the real world. You cam can go to Usps.com and apply as community service if the selective service system isn't used to make up losses in the war on COVID 19.

Tell your local postal employees that you want their office workers who face the public to wear a mask (properly) and keep their distance. And regularly disinfect those touch screens. Most postal workers do, but a minority don't. Is it as simple as Democrats do but Republicans don't? Or is it just that those who get their "news" from hard right sources really do believe that it's all a plot to destroy America? If the postmaster general can't buck the guy in the White House, can the regional directors issue their own directives? Can the union bring some pressure on this, for the safety of their members and the public?

    Jul 29, 2020

If masks work, wear your's and you don't have to worry about the other people. Want a clean touch screen? Carry alcohol wipes and use them before you touch anything. Your fear should not be pushed on anyone else.

It appears that this is not a site to find answers but a site where customers can vent. Ok - here's my story. We are trying to settle an estate. We sent 7 certified letters on July 15. Today is the 29th. The closest destination for delivery is approximately 30 miles away. It has not been delivered. One of the letters showed as a confirmed delivery on the informed delivery site. Another letter shows to be still in transit but the card attached to that certified letter has been returned. The other 5 letters just refer to the covid situation and say that the letters will be late arriving. When I originally took the letters to the post office on July 15 - the clerk told me the letters would be delivered either the upcoming Saturday or the following Monday. She didn't say she didn't know when they would get there because of the covid virus. I feel I was duped.
