The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted our country in ways that were unimaginable months ago. It is changing how people across the U.S. and around the world are working, shopping, even interacting with one another. States have ordered many stores and businesses to close. Businesses that continue to operate are faced with protecting their employees and customers, while coming up with creative ways to market and deliver their products.

The Postal Service continues to serve the public, operating on the front line, fulfilling the universal service obligation to deliver to every house and business every day. USPS is finding itself serving a population that is relying on it now more than ever. For many home-bound and quarantined people, home delivery is the only source for medicine and other vital supplies. During this time, the Postal Service has also prioritized the safety of its employees and customers.

We recognize the reality of the pandemic and have adapted our operations to maintain continuity while ensuring the safety of our employees. We are taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees, using technology whenever possible. As we have told our employees, we also ask you to follow CDC guidelines, remain home as much as possible, and stay safe.

For questions or concerns about delivery during the pandemic, please go to usps.com to track mail or get information from the USPS Coronavirus FAQs page.

Postal Service employees, for work-related complaints or issues, please use our Hotline to let us know.

Is there a logistical issue at Chicago? I am not able to get a representative on the phone to find out but I have an incoming package from GB that hasnt moved for over 10 days. Can you please advise?

Many of the packages that I have sent out by USPS Priority Mail seem to take a couple of extra days to be delivered since the coronavirus outbreak. Has the USPS issued a statement re deliveries being affected by this pandemic? If so, I would like to be able to send this notice to my package recipients. Thank you.

I have a package arrived at Des Moines, IA on April 21st, and it should be delivered to me on the 24th. Today (27th), I have not received it yet. When I checked the tracking, its been sitting at this Network Distribution Center location for almost 6 days now. I've been trying to find a number for me to call this facility, but to no avail. I called the Customer Care number, and the hold time is almost 1 hour. Please, all I need to know why my package is still out there and never move. Please email me, so I can provide the tracking number if you need it. I totally understand about the crisis, but almost 1 week no movement...that is so frustrating. Thank you! Tony

My primary residence is VIllages FL. I was up visiting family in Phila, Pa, and unable to leave due to restrictions. I was having mail forwarded but now nothing is coming. I've tried going online to get taken care of and that did not help. What options do I have.

I had my registration and license plates mailed out by the DMV on 4/9/20 and it arrived at the regional facility on 4/14. On 4/18 it went to the black hole of "In Transit to Next Facility" where it has remained in no change status for 8 days now. USPS called me and gave me the same reason - with COVID19 there is a shortage of workers and the facility where mail is dropped off for sorting gets overwhelmed by UPS and FEDEX packages as well. This "In Transit to Next Facility" is annoying and provides no help as to what to do next except call and keep waiting.

I got sent a package by a brand , meaning I didn’t pay for it but it was for a promo. It says my package delivered but I have yet to receive anything . Is the tracking sister messed up because of the pandemic or is it just lost

I’ve experienced something similar. My package was shipped the 22nd. Received a confirmation from Usps that it was delivered to me 28th of April at 1:11pm even though it was the 26th of April on the day that I checked. Called customer care same day to track my package on the phone and it told me that my package was still in a distribution center.Called the merchant that I ordered from and they told me my order was still being processed. It’s all a mess.

Check with all residents/employees to see if someone received it and failed to show it to you. USPS has global verification tracking that shows the exact position where the Postal Employee was standing at time of delivery. Go to the facility that has your zip code and see where they delivered it to.

I had a package sent to me the 9th of April. It is now the 25th. It's been 17 days and I have no idea where my package is. When USPS first got it everything seemed fine with the tracking. It said it was scheduled for delivery the 15th. That day came and nothing at all. The next day the tracking was never updated. I signed up it for the text updates to know asap what's going on and the next day I get a message saying it's in San Francisco California. Why did my package go from Upstate NY literally all the way to the other side of the country?I live in Missouri! And I filed a recovery report the 22nd and they were supposed to contact me about what's going on and nothing. I get the virus is slowing things down but this is unacceptable to not even have to decency to update your customers with any information at all. I'm almost convinced at this point my package was stolen. And it's a $400 collector's item that I cannot replace.

I mailed my grandson a birthday card on April 13 that never received. Also, I mailed a bill a few days and they haven't received my payment yet. I understand that everything has slowed down. Is 1st class mail taking longer?

    Apr 25, 2020

Yes, I've sent several packages first class in the last month, and at least 4 have taken several days longer than normal.

I currently have 3-4 packages that all arrived and were scanned at ISC NY on April 12th but nothing since. I understand that everything is slow and backed up with the corona virus, but I’m just concerned that it’s been almost 2 weeks with no change to tracking. Just looking for some info on what I should expect or if I should even expect anything.

Post office never tells you anything when it comes to safety and wellness issues. They do a standup talk but don't want to follow the directive. Their only concern is trying to cut office time and street time erroneously. And up management bonuses. That includes OIG. Its All a racquet and game of lies to distract the people on the bottom while they rob the company blind. Business as usual

I've shipped several packages this week (April 19, 2020), but USPS tracking shows no movement as of April 24th, 2020, 5PM EST. My customers are understanding of delays due to Covid-19, but are starting to become upset with seeing no scans at all, as though the packages disappeared. Can you please confirm if there is a backlog of packages to scan at the Atlanta office, so that we can be confident that at least it's likely our packages are simply backlogged and not lost. Thank you!

    Apr 24, 2020
  • anon

Yeah theres something going on in the atlanta offices. I had a package sit in a facility for days without the package being accepted. I assumed the package was stolen by an employee. But like 2 weeks later it moved out of the facility without ever being accepted. Kind of weird but at least the package moved.

Packages should be scanned at the Drop Off PO, so we at least KNOW the package is in the hands of the PO and not just laying in some city across this land. Lost of people want to work... My father has been waiting for his unemployment card and at it was sent about a few weeks ago. My parents have been watching the mail closely because of theft. They have asked the mail carrier “ Why are they not receiving mail as in the past? “ she said they are not giving us much mail to deliver. My parents went to the post office and it took well over 40 minutes to purchase stamps. There was only 1 employee and as they were in line they noticed huge amounts of mail. I understand we are all taking precautions but mail service is ESSENTIAL and I hope the USPS is not slowing customer service. Thank you kindly for your service !

This is the second occurrence during lockdown I have sent three boxes priority mail to zip code 10040 and the local carrier has refused to deliver to the apartment. The recipient is home. It sure is appreciated! But when they send something way off track and says it's lost even though the tracking says where it is makes me mad as hell! It's suppose to go from new york to new york and it's in north carolina. that's a big pain in the butt

Should not mail carriers be required to wear masks and gloves when delivering mail to an apartment complex? If so, and I hope so!, to whom to I address my concern?

    Apr 24, 2020
  • anon

USPS does not require the letter carrier to wear a mask inside the facility and on the street . USPS is putting their employees and postal customers at risk . For safety and health of everyone it is imperative to wear a facial mask to help slow the spread of the virus I don't know why they get away without following state in government law.

I'm in mivhigan. 've noticed packages are going to other sorting facilities than they normally do, bypassing the alan park facility entirely, some even seem to bouce back and forth between some facilities. A package sent to me from 60 miles away was sent to georgia, then to las vegas, then "in transit" limbo for 10 days, then indianna for 4 days, then magically arrived.

I have now had 3 packages coming from the Pittsburgh Pa sort facility to Jersey City, NJ sort facility never to be heard from again. All were "Media Mail" packages. All arrived from Pittsburgh within 24 hours and updated with the usual "In transit" update every 24 hours for 4 consecutive days. They then stop updating and have never been received. it's been a month since they were shipped. These packages normally arrive in 3-5 days. I understand delays during the pandemic. To me a delay would be 7 to 10 days late. Non delivery is another issue and sellers still pay a fee for media mail delivery. The Post Office is still obligated to deliver these packages and they are not. Plus what is the point of the USPS attaching a tracking # to every package if they can't be tracked and located. Avoid using Media Mail and Package Services from the Post Office if you live in the NYC metro area since they will have to go through the the abomination known as the Jersey City NJ hell hole.

Same here, I had two Media Mail packages reach the Jersey City facility on 4/26 and then tracking stopped with no trace, I called USPS and they tell me the packages are lost.

Same problem, however it's too late for our business. We have over 500 packages (many media mail- we're a bookshop in NJ) which are sitting in Jersey City for weeks now. I'm refunding customers like crazy to save our online reputation. It's so unfortunate- barely scraping by during this closure and the USPS is going to drive us straight into the ground. Now I'm upgrading as much as possible to priority mail- even considered shipping every 3 days and driving to another state to drop off the packages, but they might end up in the wasteland of Jersey City anyway. Such an epic failure of USPS.

I sent a Priority Mail Envelope on Friday April 17 to Farmington Hills, Michigan and was told it would be there on Monday, Well it's not. Tracking says it is moving to the next facility and has said that since the 18th. I have contacted USPS a couple times only to be told the same information. It would not bother me except this is tax information that I can't get back, Ugh..Any help would be appreciated!!

Anybody else's packages showing up ripped open? Anything big that's been delivered to my door has been forcefully opened just enough to see what's inside. It can't be the neighbors, because im home most days and have the package in my hand before the truck even leaves the street. I can't buy these items in store because of COVID 19, and I can't buy them online, because of untrustworthy employees..

Unfortunately there are questionable people in every aspects no matter where they work. I have been a mail carrier for over 30 years and I have had new customers move onto my route and receive something ripped and automatically suspect me. I get very insulted most of us are extremely trustworthy we get paid decent and have benefits it's not worth our job to take something or look at something such as ripping open your packages , it's just not worth it! I think you just might be a little paranoid and it might show your true Outlook of people. Or as other people you might be a little confused and don't understand the difference between UPS FedEx DHL Amazon do you realize we receive packages as a third party from all those companies and in turn they delay your package and then charge you the customer more and then send it through us maybe it was received from them ripped open before it was even transferred to us!! Who's ripping who off now by charging you more and paying less?

I live in Bayonne, NJ and order from a bakery in Jersey City, NJ. We live about 20 minutes away from the store but since they are not receiving customers I did an online order. My question is why did my package after it was pick up/mailed out in Jersey City, NJ it went all the way to Springfield MA Distribution Center. Why didn't it just go to the Newark, New Jersey Distribution Center which just a town over from Bayonne, New Jersey. It makes no sense. This happen to another package that I had been waiting for. It was mailed from, I think, Monclair, New Jersey and went to Springfield MA Distribution Center. It took almost 2 weeks to arrive. So my packages go all the way to another state to come back to New Jersey. Can someone explain this to me.

I work in a retirement community (apartments) for seniors. Our letter carrier refuses to wear a mask inside our building to put the mail in the communal mailbox area. We are trying to protect the most AT RISK people and why he will not wear a mask is beyond incredulous! Could you please make it mandatory for carriers to wear masks in common areas?
