The Ups and Downs of Productivity

Blame it on the rain. Or the heat, or the snow. Weather, it seems, has an impact on the U.S. Postal Service’s productivity. Geographic regions with extreme climate – other things being equal – have lower productivity than moderate climate regions.

Climate isn’t the only regional factor. Cost of living and terrain ruggedness also have an impact on the productivity in a region.

 

Customer Experience Is Key to Success

The customer is king, or queen. It’s an age-old mantra that rings especially true in this age of the “empowered” customer.

The U.S. Postal Service has a lot of kings and queens. Last year, 857 million retail customers visited the more than 30,000 USPS-managed retail spaces, generating nearly $10 billion (14 percent) of the Postal Service’s $69.6 billion operating revenue.

    It already has that capability. A year ago or so that alert function was enabled for a week or so. Meanwhile 10% or so parcels are mis-coded so that the printed address doesn't match the address...
