Background

The Newark Post Office is located in the Ohio Valley District of the Central Area. We conducted this audit in response to concerns raised by the OIG Office of Investigation of potential stamp stock manipulation. Our objective was to determine whether stamps, money orders, and cash were adequately protected at the Newark, OH, Post Office.

We started our fieldwork after the president of the United States issued the national emergency declaration concerning the novel coronavirus disease outbreak (COVID-19) on March 13, 2020. However, the results of this audit do not reflect operational changes and/or service impacts that may have occurred at this facility as a result of the pandemic.

On 30 September 2020, I placed an order for stamps Totaling $63.80. COVID or no, where are my stamps, or where is my cash. I also think whoever designs your online pages, asks strange questions, and gives worse answers; often resulting in ineffective loops..

We are getting terrible service. Customers complain about cards being sent and never delivered. One card was located in bushes minus cash. Mail is being mis-delivered or scanned as delivered but doesn’t show up till next day. No really sure who to complain to.
