Background

The West Milwaukee Branch is in the Lakeland District of the Central Area. This audit was designed to provide Postal Service management with timely information on potential scanning and mail delivery risks at the West Milwaukee Branch.

The delivery unit has 88 city routes, delivered by 100 full-time carriers and 12 city carrier assistants. The West Milwaukee Branch also has 11 clerks, including 10 full-time and one postal support employee. We chose the West Milwaukee Branch based on the number of stop-the-clock (STC) scans occurring at the delivery unit.

Our objective was to evaluate select mail delivery and customer service operations and determine whether internal controls were effective at the West Milwaukee Branch. We found delivery unit employees improperly scanned 6,715 packages at the unit rather than at the delivery point between September and November 2020. We also found management did not properly manage and safeguard Postal Service assets including arrow lock keys and mail delivery vehicles.

Verizon Wireless mailed me a SIM Card for my phone. Its being sent from one distribution center in Atlanta Georgia since April 30th. I can certainly see now why the postal service is in financial trouble being mismanaged.

Congratulations... This is one of the first audits where you state that you actually talked with the carriers (people who actually touch the mail). however.... you do not follow up with what they told you and how it helped you perform your audit and help the unit to perform better. Instead you use the usual platitudes that upper management will tell middle management to tell local management to do their jobs...Hello...Local management would always like to do their jobs. Something is preventing it and you have no clue why. There are lots of incorrect scans.. I am sure the carriers told you why... Please respond and explain what they told you... Not to hold up expectations that you would actually respond..I'll answer for you.. Carriers told you that local management just got tired of being on the "list" and browbeaten by upper management. Carriers generally like their local management and feel helpless in the childish degradation which spews from upper management aimed at PM's. So carriers back them up and LIE, Falsify scans, do anything to keep peace and allow them to get the mail out... When will you acknowledge that upper management is the source of 90% of the delivery unit problems and back the real people who love their customers and get the mail out the door in spite of all management does to prevent it...If you decide to not print this like other comments I have given you...Do me the favor of emailing me just WHY you think this message is inappropriate... regards,
