Background

The Hawthorne Post Office is in the Los Angeles District of the Pacific Area. The unit has 50 city routes, including one auxiliary route, delivered by 58 full-time regular city carriers, four part-time flexible city carriers, and five city carrier assistants. We chose the Hawthorne Post Office based on the number of stop-the-clock scans at the delivery unit. Our objective was to review select mail delivery and customer service operations at the Hawthorne Post Office.

    Why are we only getting our mail delivered every other 2 days is there something preventing our every say delivery

    This office has been non-operational for two days. Being that I'm homeless and have no other mailing address I have been unable to pick up any parcels in the office that won't fit into my P.O. box. I have work-related items as well as personal items which I have been unable to retrieve and have no other means to get. This is absolutely unacceptable. If there is a personnel problem at this location why hasn't there been any resolution for TWO DAYS?! Simply shutting down the location is not a viable option! The United States government can surely concoct something instead of just abandoning everything inside an entire Post Office with no way for people with no other means to get their mail and parcels. Some peoples' livelihood and health depend upon getting things through the mail and a closure of a facility like this is simply unacceptable!

    I picked up my mail at the Hawthorne post office after a vacation. When going through it at home, I see that I have 6 other peoples mail and I am missing some of my bills. This tells me that others have my mail. This is an incompetent office of employees. Half the time mail isn't delivered to the house.

    broken record--broken record-- Late Arriving Mail........mentioned but not addressed in management comments.... Upper management will be dropping bombs on the poor postmaster just trying to get the mail out......Do him and yourselves a favor.....Work on why the plants in all your reports always have late deliveries......Solve that and many of the delivery problems will vanish.... I know you zap some of my comments.....Here's a truism....If you don't have stuff to do----you do nothing....Get the stuff on time and properly to the post offices...That should be the mission of your next year of delivery operations audits... Stay safe everybody.

    I was told that a "No Access" scan should be re-attempted the next working day - similar to a "Business Closed" scan. Maybe I was misinformed because the audit mentions that No Access items should be placed on the Notice Left section. But the problem is: notices are not left for this scan event. If notices are required for the "No Access" scan, why not then linking the notice ID with the tracking number and make it visible on the internal tracking system?
