While conducting site visits at the Chicago International Service Center (ISC) for our International Election Mail Observations for the 2020 General and 2021 Georgia Runoff Elections project, we found significant operational delays of international packages and safety and security risks that we believe warrant management’s immediate attention and corrective action.

The U.S. Postal Service processed over 729 million pieces of international mail and parcels in fiscal year (FY) 2020 and the Chicago ISC is one of five Postal Service facilities that are primarily responsible for processing international inbound and outbound volume. A key segment of these mailings are packages, such as those sent using International First-Class, Priority, or Express Mail service.

I’ve got two packages from two different companies coming from China that arrived at ISC Chicago a week apart, end of May and first week in June. there’s hasn’t been any status updates since initially arriving here in Chicago. Just yesterday both packages status has now changed to “arrived at Pittsburg PA network distribution center”. I live in IL so what on earth are my packages doing in PA. If it were just one of the packages I’d say the company made a mistake regarding the shipping address. But like I stated earlier it’s two shipments from two different companies. It’s highly unlikely that both would make the same mistake. It appears that the Chicago USPS made a mistake in routing this mail. Such incompetence shouldn’t go unnoticed and much more important changes should be made regarding personnel at all levels. This is why many are not choosing to use the USPS as a first option. A culture of low standards and zero accountability dominates one of our oldest and more important institutions. What’s worse is that all these complaints will fall on deaf ears and dismissive minds. Very unfortunate for all of us

The tracking on my package has been "processed through our facility in ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS) at 9:24 pm on May 25, 2021" for almost a month now with no delivery or further updates. I don't know what kind of delays they're experiencing but I'm starting to wonder if they lost my package.

Same issue as others have posted. I don't really NEED the item. But, it has been sitting at Chicago ISC for a month now.

It appears the Chicago International Service Center at 16000 Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60666(?) is known as ISC Chicago (USPS). We are ISC Chicago; Chicago International Service Center is isc chicago usps. If people search for ISC Chicago on Facebook, we both show up. We get it why people got us confused with you. We keep getting email complaints from people trying to reach ISC Chicago (USPS) but they land on our Facebook page. It even garnered us negative reviews even though the issue had nothing to do with us. I don’t think it’s fair we have to do damage control on your behalf. We are NOT, and are not affiliated with, the Post Office.

I have a 700 dollar rare vinyl LP that was mailed from Sweden and has been sitting there "processed" since Jun 3rd. I am on the verge of tears as I saved a lot of money in order to afford it and had it shipped "express" the best possible shipping the seller could offer. What's going on?

I haven't been waiting months like others, but I've had a package from the UK sitting there since June 10th... Status hasn't updated since being processed at the facility. I have had no luck contacting anyone about this.

I have a package that’s supposed to be going to Belize (mailed May 26, 2021) and it’s been stuck in Chicago since May 28th… it’s now June 18. I filed a international claim on usps.com and called the USPS 1800 number, and spoke with a lady (who was very helpful) who told me they will do everything they can to get it moving. Ugh..

It FINALLY left this black hole to go to Miami (June 27). Hopefully that means it will go to Belize soon...

What is going on In USPS chicago ISC side ? I have several parcels that arrive in this center from Singapore since 24 May 2021 and no more tracking information update after that. Its worst than the time when I Shipped In 2020. Wrote to usps for enquiry and what I got is asking me to refer back to my local post office for help as you do not answer enquires from People who stay outside USA.

Hi. I have been trying to contact someone who can help me locate my international package that has stuck in Chicago Customs since October 2019. It is June 2021now. I already went through the missing mail process, called the 800 USPS number and spoke to the local postmaster with no results. I even called CBP and the officer was very rude to me as my question did not pertain to CBP at all. I’m at my wits end and extremely frustrated!!! Who else can help me??

I always expect packages to get lost or delayed here for long enough that tracking numbers are removed from the USPS system. Rather or not I get them from there is anyones guess. The last one has been held since the first of May and was a combined package holding 6 other individual orders in their own packages.

Today received notice my package has been sent to Stamford, CT. A little further away but at least the package is on the move. The funny thing is that I had a package sent fro Kiev around the same time as the one that’s been in Chicago. That package from Kiev arrived weeks ago.

My package arrived. Took about 6 weeks all up from the UK. I don't really blame the USPS. I do blame trump for installing De Joy as the head of the USPS. De Joy and the republicans are actively trying to destroy the USPS. The USPS needs to be invested in so we can get back to decent mail delivery.

My understanding is that the Chicago ISC is the Bermuda Triangle of international mail. My package, with an estimated delivery date of 06/09/21 was scanned into the facility on 06/05 and is still there as of this posting. If the other commenters are correct, I won't see it until the end of July or beginning of August. It is my recommendation that the USPS bypass this facility until they can get their act together.

I have a package going to the UK that's been sitting in Chicago customs since May 29. I need this to either be returned to me or sent to where it's supposed to be going in the UK, can't get any answers from phone/personnel at the USPS. Very upsetting, horrible customer service and they're raising rates for what???

Item ordered on May 2, shipped on May 5th, arrived in Chicago ISC on May 20th. It hasn't moved since. It's nothing that is time sensitive, but spending a month sitting in a bin is a pretty sad state of affairs. What if it was a needed medical device? Paying people more money to sit home than the people actually working is clearly a boneheaded move, and this, among other things right now, is the unintended consequence. I feel for the people that are actually there and working because they must be swamped.

Have a package that’s apparently just sitting there. It’s registered mail, and last update was June 9th “processed through ISC Chicago”. They should just change that nomenclature to “arrived at” the “processed through” leads one to believe its already gone THROUGH, instead of merely being scanned in at Chicago ISC. Can’t believe how poor the USPS has become. I used to work for USPS from 1998-2007. Didn’t mind the work, but hated the inefficient methods. Between this ISC, and the Memphis terminal for packages traveling within the States; your package has an exponentially high chance of being stolen/damaged/lost.

My package has arrived in ISC Chicago on May 23, 2021 and has had NO MOVEMENT! I’ve contacted USPS multiple times but have not had any solutions to my case. I’m so pissed!! This is people’s hard earned money (well most of us at least) that’s just sitting there. I hope this gets resolved, but doesn’t look like it will since it seems like they don’t really care. Someone’s getting for doing NOTHING at work!!!

I've got a package I ordered from China on the 1st week of April, and it arrived May 13th in customs in Chicago ill. A pond liner! I called and spoke to an agent who stated they are short handed because of being paid unemployment and making more money to stay home than work in the facility! Somebody needs to make everyone's packages get to their home address! It's now June 16th and I've been more than patient on the excuses of covid and unemployment pay to stay home! This is rediculous! People need their mail! I'd like to see government employees back to work! And I've read about people's type of important packages needed for health issues from other countries! Is there anyone in upper corporate reading these important messages or are they sitting behind a desk with their feet propped up enjoying a cocktail?

So, I'm gonna assume all of my packages from 4 different sellers are either stuck in Chicago or we're stolen. I'm do pissed off. If I could get the things I wanted in this country I would. Now, give me my mail plz!
