We did not identify any issues related to the four areas we reviewed affecting the efficiency of operations at the Albuquerque, AZ P&DC. We identified one deficiency related to transportation.

We performed a self-initiated audit at the Albuquerque, NM Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) and four delivery units serviced by the P&DC during the week of June 6, 2022. The delivery units included the Rio Rancho Branch, Richard J. Pino and Coronado Stations, and the Santa Fe Main Post Office.

We issued individual reports for the four delivery units and the P&DC we visited. We will also issue another report summarizing the results of our audits at all four delivery units with specific recommendations for management to address.

Packages mailed to me from Page One Books in Albuquerque are still going from Albuquerque to Denver to Colorado Springs back to Denver to Albuquerque and finally to Rio Rancho....when it should be cheaper and more efficient to send them directly from Albuquerque to Rio Rancho...and I might add, I would not have to wait up to 7 working days to get the packages instead receiving them in at most 48 hours....Something that needs to be looked into. Maybe your mail sorting needs to be adjusted. Unfortunately I am 81 years old and prefer not to drive into Albuquerque to pick up things at Page One Books anymore, rather letting the post office do the work for me.
