You probably have heard a lot recently about the pandemic and other issues causing problems with mail delivery, with some people saying it takes weeks for packages and letters to arrive. Maybe you even experienced problems yourself. Maybe you’ve been getting your mail on time and wondering what all the complaints are about.

Did you ever wish you could get a better understanding of how the Postal Service is doing across the country? Well, now you can. We recently launched a new service performance webpage that includes an interactive map displaying quarterly data on the Postal Service’s service performance around the country.

You can filter the data by time period, geography, mail class, or service standard. Want to see on-time performance for presorted First-Class Mail that is supposed to be delivered in two days? You can. Maybe you’re interested in focusing on Marketing Mail in New York? You can filter the map to see that also.

We will continue to update this page quarterly as the Postal Service releases new data. The interactive map is not all the website features; it also functions as a one-stop-shop for all the OIG’s published and upcoming work on service performance. So, take a look and tell us what you think

Tracking a package supposedly shows when the package was shipped. Updates are not posted accurately and anticipated delivery dates are changed on a daily bases.

USPS sucks worse than a black hole, our mail never gets here on time the packages, if it says it's going to be here today forget it it won't be here for 3 or 4 days later usually. Tracking is useless I don't even ship packages with USPS anymore I pay more money for UPS simply because while they do have problems, it's a more efficient run system and I know my packages won't be delayed. I can't believe my taxes pay for all you clowns to screw up mail delivery and package delivery. I sincerely wish they would do away with your entire USPS and let private handlers do it.

Post office is terrible now, I literally can’t even use them anymore, I have had to refund a lot of customers for stuff they purchased that never arrived and there is no customer service to even report it to. The last straw was losing my tax return and mortgage payment…I’m done!

I have a package that was split between DHL and USPS. DHL moved my package from two different countries and to US in 3 days . USPS has had it In transit for over a months. I have gotten very few updates and it was supposed to be delivered today. It was not! Maybe take a page from the successful companies. The expected delivery date was anytime between March 22 and April 11th. I was figuring on the 11th but it’s now the 18th and still don’t have it .

I ordered products online from China and it only took 4 day's to arrive in the US, but now stuck in another post office 451 miles away for 4 days. Plus I am constantly getting my neighbors and other wrong mail. I can understand once or twice, but every week? I am now worried about getting important medication on time.

About 25% of my packages are lost, and 85% are delivered late. I'm waiting on a package now that was supposed to be delivered 3 days ago. Tracking says it's still over 600 miles away and it took 2 days to go from one facility to another facility only 8 miles away. When I request more information, I'm given the exact information that's on the tracking site and then I'm summarily dismissed. There is absolutely no accountability either. If they lose my package, damage it, or delay it - it costs them nothing. If they lose it, they tell me to contact the shipper - as if the shipper has any idea where it might be. If you look at their efficiency report, all of the actual numbers are redacted. They claim they are improving, but they redact all the information in the audits that would prove that (I wonder why?). Seems to me, if they were really improving, they'd be happy to share the information. As for cost, I can send something UPS or FedEx for nearly the same price, but it actually gets there on time - and if it doesn't, they can tell me EXACTLY where it is and/or what happened. The USPS is a freaking joke!

Parcel delivery is horrid. I try to track packages and the will be marked as "delivered" and show up 1 to 3 days later. I had a package that was marked as delivered and never received it. The last joke was a package that shipped from Iowa to my address in Jacksonville Florida. It made it to Tallahassee Fl and was sent back to Iowa. 10 days later than the scheduled delivery of April 1 and I still haven't seen the package. i would estimate that 40% - 50% of my packages experience some type of delivery issue. I am to the point that I now request another delivery service other than USPS.

USPS is absolutely an incompetent and a corrupt entity. AVOID USING THEIR SERVICES! I am waiting for a package to arrive for over 8 weeks now and I called three times and provided my tracking number but they can not find it and suggested I should contact the sender to make an inquiry. That clearly shows they don't have a tracking system and and they don't' care. This would not happen with FedEx or UPS.

Imagine wasting 8 or 9 billion dollars a year and you still can't deliver packages correctly. You can't get or steal a tracking system that works. Almost all packages I track are just "in transit" with no updates for over 3 days. Great work guys, just as inept as any other government funded group. Maybe bring back more air travel for mail and packages, you can pick up the pace, grandpa. Leach of a system.

What can I say about the USPS that everyone hasn’t already. They are totally worthless. They deliver more packages to me virtually destroyed than not. The last few I had to go pick up at the post office because they required a signature and I was at work. Both times the worker handed me a box that had been mangled and split open with the contents visible inside. Both times she handed them to me with a smile and absolutely no regard to the condition of the package. I have video after video of mailmen throwing my packages up onto my porch, most of the time resulting in damage to the contents. If they don’t throw them at my front door, they leave them at the top of the stairs (6 steps) often to soak all day in the rain. I live outside of Seattle:.. it rains here a lot… you would think they would know this. I have had package after package ruined because of this. This week… tracking indicated a small package delivered “in or at “ my mailbox. No package to be found. I am sick beyond my ability to describe of this. I plead with sellers not to use the USPS… or fedex for that matter… I beg them to use ups or DHL for that matter. The website is a joke and is probably operating exactly the way it is designed… to lead you around in circles with absolutely no possible resolution. I guess I give up. They win. Apparently they can do anything they want. I have just stopped doing business with anyone that uses them as their carrier. I’ll be amazed if this post even goes through

I agree 100%! We are in South Florida and continue to be referred to our local Consumer Affairs office which is a joke. All they do is give us the runaround and provide no assistance. 7 years of the same delivery issues. We have an established history of mail tampering and mishandling, misdelivery, and scanning issues, which have all been reported to the OIG. Our post office should have been audited years ago. No accountability, no improvement.

USPS lost a package in April 2021, then the replacement that was sent out a couple of months later, they also lost that too!!! Fast forward to March 2022 and a package that was being sent to me, they left a notification in my mail box, the day before the final day I have to pick it up from my local post office, Went to the post office and they stil l cannot find it, if I did that same junk in my job, I would be fired. What a joke!! Cannot trust them neither to make sure that mailing your bills will arrive in time, when you send them out, almost as fast as they get delivered by USPS, you can be damn straight they will deliver a blasted bill but outside of that, useless

After reading many of the Comments listed here, I want to add that certain USPS employees are not only failing to deliver the mail in a professional manner, e.g. not destroying our mail in the process of delivering it, but are also not keeping posted Post Office hours. In one instance, I was permitted into the Post Office, but nobody was working the counter (in fact, you could not get to the counter due to a metal door/barricade), 30 minutes prior to the posted closing time. It is for this reason that I will be contacting my Legislator to see what can be done to get the USPS system to more closely regulate itself and prevent the abuses mentioned in this blog.

Is there anybody that actually monitors letter carriers and local post office performance? The carrier shows up in my neighborhood, on average about 4 days a week. The local post office always uses the shortage of manpower excuse. I get notifications that a package is out for delivery and it may be three or more days before it arrives. The USPS constantly lies about attempted deliveries to cover for the days that there is no service. The animal on premise is one of their favorites, even when there isn't one. The postal service died years ago. It's time to stop getting welfare checks and be put to rest. If SPACEX can deliver to space, it can deliver to my house.

I sent an envelope from Langhorne, PA post office on 3/11/22 to a residence in Glenside, PA which is a 30 min drive on the PA Tpke. I included tracking because of the terrible USPS service in the last 2 years. The envelope went from Langhorne to Teterboro, NJ Distribution center, to Branchville, NJ, back to Teterboro, to Philadelphia and 9 days after mailing it still has not been delivered. What are we paying for these days???

I don’t know what’s happened to the USPS but scheduled delivery, tracking, and customer service is gone. I recently was expecting an important package and I couldn’t find where it was because tracking was so poor. I tried to speak with a postal employee and she was rude, hateful, and condescending. There needs to be management changes to get the postal service back in line.

The usps service is at the worst I have ever seen in my 66 years. Orders take forever to arrive. Tracking is absolutely useless anymore. Packages go right past my state to other states and linger forever. Calling doesn't even help anymore. This is so frustrating as there is no other way to get mail delivered. Why can't something be done about this?

Why would a package from Georgia to NW TN be routed to Memphis, then to Jacksonville Florida, and back to Tennessee? This kind of thing happens a lot. When tracking a package I'm always discouraged when I see it is going to the Memphis distribution center.

The biggest problem is the lack of accountability and support. The mail is somewhere. This packages being marked as delivered and showing up days later is a issue but packing never showing up is another. My package was supposed to be delivered Feb 27. Mar 2nd I filed a missing claim. March 8th, my missing claim is still just listed as a missing claim. No update on if they're actually looking for it. I'm guessing not. No tracking information available. Nothing else I can do put wait until the end of time. lol. I've gotten a live person on the phone before, maybe a year ago, may have even been before the lockdown. Either way, it seems impossible now. The other issue definitely seems to be with these Budget or UPS rental trucks intercepting the mail. It's time for someone new to step in. Who's managing the USPS has failed.

3,19,22--My situation is almost identical to yours: 4 international packages, sent 1,3,22 and only 1 has arrived around 2,3. I thought it was ridiculous to pay for Priority Express Mail. The shipper is not in a Pandemic-ridden country; so that excuse doesn't work. I agree that there is no ACCOUNTABILITY; neither is there a reason for USPS to do things differently. I thought of USPS as a national institution for most of my life. I cannot imagine how the country will go forward without dependable mail service. I agree that we need someone new to step in--does anyone in government think USPS should be dependable with appropriate Customer Service.

I have no faith in the USPS. I mailed a envelope via Certified Mail on the 02/14/2022. As of today (03/05/2022) the tracking shows its still in transit. The envelope was mailed from a Post Office center in Riverside CA to Sacramento CA. This is approximately a distance of 440 miles. 19 days later and the envelope is still in transit. Total incompetence. I actually have more faith in the DMV than I do in the USPS.

USPS is hands-down the worst agency or company that I have ever dealt with. Deliveries almost never go as planned and packages get lost with alarming frequency. I have never interacted with even a single USPS employee who shows any sense of urgency or seems to care about absolutely anything. They are ALL smugly confident that they are completely untouchable and that they have some sort of inalienable right to do literally nothing and get paid for it. I can see no way whatsoever how USPS could somehow be reformed or redeemed. The only thing that should be done is close USPS down. They truly are that worthless.

I received a bill today postmarked 1/10/22…37 days ago without counting Sunday’s. Another piece of mail took 22 days to arrive from an area I could’ve walked from over that span of time. Both pieces were in poor shape and one had a piece of the yellow sticker you’d see marking the envelope with a message like “wrong address/addressee unknown”….but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way it was addressed. What is going on?!?

I sent a package on January 5th. Tracking shows that it had arrived in the correct city by January 17th and was "out for delivery." But it was never delivered. February 18th, one month later, and it's still out for delivery? This is ridiculous. Tampering with or stealing mail is a federal crime. Someone needs to manage this better.

The service I get from the usps went from pretty darn good, to extremely poor!! It takes three or more days longer to receive a package from the posatal service than it does from UPS, or FedEx from the same city. It’s has gone from being frustrating to becoming an absolute joke. I think a lot of people here are lashing out in anger without really trying to figure out what the problem is. Yes USPS has misplaced packages for us a lot, but saying lazy overpaid morons is a little bit silly. Your packages don’t get lost because your local mail carrier or postal office is having issues (I’ve never had a problem with them) the issue seems to be how they are sorting and shipping them from office to office. This is most likely due to sorting policies and systems, not lazy workers, they are actually probably overworked at those hubs and do the best they can knowing it’s still not going to be good enough. The debate of wether the post office is self sufficient or not isn’t that easy, does anyone have a full congressional budget that passed that can show how much and when money was sent to the post office? Also “overbloated government agency”? Most of them scrape by with less and less each year due to congressional arguments. I know this one for a fact. Don’t get mad at your local postman. I’m sure they are trying to get it to you, Their vehicles are packed with boxes, they drive past houses where the mailbox is blocked by a garbage can etc. if they have to get out it makes the time per house quadruple. Also they just want to get home to their families like you o

It’s always the hard workers who get talked about while the real lazy people hide behind there keyboards an talk down on people because there miserable,an that’s the truth with no sugar coating..If your so mad don’t order packages how bout you take the time an go get it yourself….see how many complaints you come back with then..Bless those hard workers an please don’t let these people stress you out.

While I agree that we are lashing out at the wrong individuals at times because of our frustrations. I also agree name calling and such is a little much.. however as for the post office being overworked.. that is 100% on them! The postal service continues to take contracts with other couriers to complete local deliveries know ful well they are not staffed to do so. So therefore knowingly taking on more work load than they are able to just to make money. Ultimately coming at a cost to the consumer.

I placed 2 stamps on a business envelope (1 was all that was needed) going from South Central MA to Lynbrook, NY. we are going on 15 days, and still my mail has not yet been delivered. 2 words for this horror show. DeJoy and trump. I have never experienced anything like this before these 2 idiots came along. Go ahead, blame Biden, for this mess, that's what republicans do. They finger point rather then admit their wrong doings. Get rid of Dejoy and along with our mail we will once again fly in the right direction. This was trumps doing. Getting a fool in there that has no clue what the price of mailing a post card costs. The USPS had better stand up for the people who are supplying them with their benefits. Get rid of Dejoy and we can once again get our mail to where we intended it to go.

What I don't understand is how it's deemed allowed and acceptable that this company is basically scamming people out of hundreds of dollars, when they can't even do their job as it's listed. I shipped a package off 12/23, for over a hundred dollars in shipping prices. Not once was it ever mentioned to me just how delayed the package would be, and how god awful the service is. I haven't shipped a package with USPS since early 2019, lesson learned, I am NEVER EVER using USPS again, if I can help it. This is absolutely ridiculous for a mailing company, and the people in charge of this should be ashamed of themselves. They can make up whatever excuse they want with the pandemic, but every other mailing company is doing just fine, and actually delivering their packages as stated. I did not pay for priority mail for my things to be this delayed, absolutely disgusting. Over a month waiting, when the person I sent the package to, theirs arrived to me in less than a week with FedEx. INTERNATIONALLY. I really wish I had known better, but I guess I know now. I'm tired of talking to the shitty phone operators too that can't even help you for what it's worth sitting on the phone for an hour. I feel used, and dejected. The package I sent contained easily breakable and expensive things, and the next thing I'm expecting is to hear a report of something broken. This was something that was supposed to be special and a gift to my boyfriend, but now it has become an actual nightmare and hell to go through. Have no clue how y'all are still up and running, when the majority of you are so bad at your jobs.

Why did you wait until 12/23 to send an international package. I guess you sent it by USPS because it was cheaper than FedEx or UPS. Also foreign customs and their mail delivery service could have slowed down the package.

People, including myself, complain about how slow their mail/packages get to them. Like all the other delivery services there ability to direct their packages properly is horrible. I order from amazon and I track my packages. I live in Toledo Oh and a package will arrive at three different stations in Toledo on three different days before it's delivered to me. REALLY! In my minds eye that is why we have zip codes so it can be delivered to me on time instead of wasting money transferring it from station to station only to go back to the first station it originally went to. In the day of computers you would think there would be a way to direct packages to the right postal station instead of multiple ones in the same city. Sorry for the long rant!
