Microbusinesses, Macro Impact

A microbusiness is just what its name implies. Very small. As in nine employees or less. But don’t let size fool you — microbusinesses are essential to the U.S. economy, making up roughly 75 percent of private businesses.

You can find microbusinesses in agriculture, law, and online marketplaces. They have a range of needs, some common to all businesses but some quite unique. For example, time and resources are in tight supply for microbusinesses.  

 

Our Semiannual Report to Congress

Like clockwork they arrive: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then the SARC.

The SARC?! Yes, we submit our Semiannual Report to Congress, or SARC, in the late fall and spring each year. This SARC outlines our work and activities for the six-month period of April 1 through September 30, 2018, and serves as one way we fulfill our mission of ensuring efficiency, accountability, and integrity in the U.S. Postal Service.

 

A Holiday Buyer’s Market

This holiday season it’s a buyer’s market and online retailers are pulling out the stops to woo customers, most notably with free shipping. Free shipping is a perennial holiday perk, yes, but this year some retailers have waived a minimum order to get free delivery.

 

Momentous Veterans Day Salute

This Veterans Day falls on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, when the armistice was enacted on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.

Ceremonies and occasions to mark the centennial anniversary are planned nationwide, including a tolling of bells across the country at 11:00 a.m. local time on November 11.
