The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted our country in ways that were unimaginable months ago. It is changing how people across the U.S. and around the world are working, shopping, even interacting with one another. States have ordered many stores and businesses to close. Businesses that continue to operate are faced with protecting their employees and customers, while coming up with creative ways to market and deliver their products.

The Postal Service continues to serve the public, operating on the front line, fulfilling the universal service obligation to deliver to every house and business every day. USPS is finding itself serving a population that is relying on it now more than ever. For many home-bound and quarantined people, home delivery is the only source for medicine and other vital supplies. During this time, the Postal Service has also prioritized the safety of its employees and customers.

We recognize the reality of the pandemic and have adapted our operations to maintain continuity while ensuring the safety of our employees. We are taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees, using technology whenever possible. As we have told our employees, we also ask you to follow CDC guidelines, remain home as much as possible, and stay safe.

For questions or concerns about delivery during the pandemic, please go to usps.com to track mail or get information from the USPS Coronavirus FAQs page.

Postal Service employees, for work-related complaints or issues, please use our Hotline to let us know.

I have sent two parcels through Royal mail international and have received two tracking numbers. The parcels arrived and were scanned in at O hare Chicago on April 11th. I paid the more expensive shipping so that these parcels would arrive to me in 5 days. Sadly when I track the parcels through USPS they still appear to be stuck at Chicago. Could someone inform me if there is a big logistics issue at Chicago or whether I should be receiving my parcels shortly. if someone emails me I can provide the tracking numbers. As of now this is all I see on the USPS website... April 11, 2020, 12:58 pm Processed Through Facility ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS) Your item has been processed through our facility in ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS) at 12:58 pm on April 11, 2020.

Same here :( I'm waiting for the package (priority express) coming from Russia. It is still 'in transit,' never been updated since 'has been processed through our facility in ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) at 8:29 am on March 29, 2020. ' today is April 27th!

Does the COVID pandemic excuse the USO? Or manners? I received two very rude comments from either new or temporary carrier saying they were not going to deliver packages to my door every day. That I would have to catch them at the mailbox if I wanted my packages or drive to the P. O. in another city to get my packages. I wasn't aware a delivery person could just choose to not deliver packages. Not even make attempts. Oh, and say that they won't allow for scheduling re-delivery!?! Under "stay home-stay safe" it is counterintuitive to require me to go to a crowded post office when the mailman could easily just do his job and deliver my packages!

I think COVID-19 is a created excuse for many in certain Federal spaces to not work or to avoid important mail. For all we know it is the Federal Government that release the virus to eliminate lazy workers that sit in Federal spaces and that have enforced policies that have no legal binding.

I just want to thank the USPS and its employees for doing a great job. I sell on Ebay and while I have choices as to which carrier I use, I will always be a loyal customer. In regard to Covid-19, I have heard from at least 24 customers who claim their tracking never showed as much of my delivering their packages to the USPS. My local Postmaster confirmed something from the news that the local New Jersey sorting facility where all outbound NYC area media mail packages go through had a Covid-19 incident. While 1-2 customers are now indicating delivery was made, what should I expect regarding the other 2-+ lost shipments. Were they destroyed? One customer in Connecticut shared with me that tracking showed his package was routed to Jacksonville FL. Awaiting a reply that is more than a form letter. Thanks

Why was my mail delivered and the carrier wasn't wearing gloves or a mask? New Jersey

    Apr 20, 2020
  • anon

No need to wear a mask outside if you can easily go people out of the way. It is important to breath fresh air, especially now. Masks are only mandated if you can't avoid social distancing, like Supermarkets etc.

    Apr 23, 2020
  • anon

What does that have to do with the carrier not taking precautions? What do you work as a postal carrier My carrier here in NY wears a mask and wears gloves

    Apr 24, 2020
  • anon

and as for the gloves, the CDC never recommended in wearing them and it's actually the opposite. "Not only are the gloves ineffective, they may be worsening the spread of COVID-19."

    Apr 25, 2020
  • anon

Even with a mask on, the 6 ft. rule still applies. Customers should not wait for the carrier to get the mail out of their hands especially when not wearing a mask, because then the Carriers are at RISK too.

I have left outgoing mail out several times over the last 2 weeks. The carrier both delivered mail and skipped my residence; yet has not collected any of the outgoing mail. Some of the mail I even left under the hook for days with the flag up to make sure I didn't miss the carrier. I live in a single family home. I have been working from home since early March and am using handwritten cards (yes, like the good ol' days) to stay in touch with people. I have tried calling my servicing office and keep getting a message stating that the mailbox is full, so I can't reach anyone to resolve this. I will leave my home and bring my mail to a PO, but it would have been helpful to know if carriers aren't collecting outgoing mail. I'm a former carrier, so I know it's part of the job. I am trying to be supportive to the PO and carrier, and I'm a bit frustrated when bills and bulk mail come in, yet the cards and bills I am trying to send out are left behind.

I am pleading with you to please mandatory fellow mail carriers to wear masks well in the office during this coronavirus virus , which has said can be A symptomatic. We are in such close proximity to each other for around two hours or so every morning while preparing the mail for the street. Each single one of us brings to work germs from every person we come in contact with, which could unnecessarily expose the rest of us at work to this virus . Alls I'm asking is for 2 hours a day to be considerate to your fellow carrier and wear a mask well in the office.

    Apr 20, 2020
  • anon

Regarding mail carriers , in the office preparing their mail for about 1 and 1/2 hours in the morning , it is extremely important for them to wear face coverings so as not to possibly infect their fellow carrier. I don't think it's too much to ask even the carriers that have underlying conditions such as myself. I have asthma, I wear a bandana over my nose and mouth during the short time that I am out of my case. While going to Collect my accountables and grabbing my hot case to prepare my mail . This is not too much to ask!! We can all come up with excuses. These masks and face coverings are not comfortable but necessary please have respect for your fellow worker.

I know the USPS status on the coronavirus when relates to packages and mail, but what about mail carriers that for two hours a day are inside of the post office , processing their mail for the day before they take it to the streets to deliver. Fellow carrier employees in such close proximity are not! required to wear masks as to not infect their fellow employee while they are in such close proximity for those two hours in the morning ? Why is this not mandated? This is for my safety and for their safety so we can continue to work and be healthy without fear of catching it I'm possibly one another that could be a simplimatic. Please please mandate carriers well in the office to be respectful and protect one another well in close proximity!

Our local post office just issued notices in our neighborhood in Irondale Alabama that our mail receptacles had to be placed on the road within 10 days or they would suspend our mail delivery. Is this due to covid 19? We have had our mail receptacle on our home for over 50 years so why now when we are under a stay at home order. This change would require us to go to a big box store thus exposing us and require us to spend money that is really tight right now.

I live in corona and haven't received my mail in over a week. The mailman comes downstairs and just sits in his truck for hours. Even when he's here, he does not want to go and do his job. I wouldn't be surprised if the Usps was politicizing this to get more funding. Sad, people are suffering and the Usps is playing games. In short, when will the people of corona get their mail again? This is truly unacceptable.

Are USPS employees in California required to wear masks, (which are now available to all employees, including gloves) inside while working? Are USPS letter carriers required to wear masks while delivering mail? And are customers allowed in the lobby of the post office building with NO mask? And Not turned away at the door because it is a federal facility? Many concerns.... of what is the truth in following CDC guidelines and the California governors mandate. Need clarification please

Our company has used a PO box for over 50 years. Due to the pandemic my employees are concerned that delivered mail would be safer than retrieving our mail from the box. Any evidence to support either method

    Apr 15, 2020
  • anon

In our station PO Box mail is put up by clerks who stay in building and don’t interact with outside consumers. Delivery to your business is done by letter carriers who are exposed to many businesses and people outside, all day every day. Since PO Boxes are in a separate area from the retail windows, it is easier to avoid those consumers. So you could slip in, get your mail, and slip out.

"home delivery is the only source", "prioritized the safety of its employees and customers", and "taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees". I've just been informed by my local office that they are no longer going to deliver parcels to our apartment complex and tenants will have to go pick them up.....exposing both themselves and employees.

    Apr 15, 2020
  • anon

That sounds like it may be an issue caused by the apartment complex. Increasingly, even before COVID-19 I have seen more and more places where parcels used to be left in the apartment office but they are no longer willing to take that responsibility. If it is not due to landlord actions, call your Postmaster and ask why the change was made. If they cannot provide an adequate reason (steps, walkways unsafe, issue with parcels being stolen) then call your district Consumer affairs office.

At this point any update on how the mail is being sent would be nice especially if it's different due to covid 19. Because I know when I ordered it says delivery delays should be expected but I didn't realize how long, so I would like to know how long priority shipping takes to be sent, because I know normally its 2-4 days and this seems like it will take 4-7 days which is fine, I at least would like my packages within a week, but if they are not coming at all because you guys aren't sending packages then we should be informed about that , because my package was accepted but it looks like it will be pending for the next three to five days but I hope it comes within 6 days and no later than that

I have 2 packages that mailed from Lawrenceville, GA going to 2 separate addresses in Queens, NY ever since March 30, 2020 and they have not arrived. They were expected to arrive on 4/6/2020 and have failed to do so. When you check the tracking system it just gives the statement that the packages are moving within the USPS network but when you call customer service and even speak with a supervisor no one can tell me where my packages are. This is beyond frustrating because no one is sincerely following up with the situation. I have opened cases and completed the find my mail/package steps and still nothing. I will NEVER send another package through USPS again and have told family members and friends to do the same. I understand we are dealing with COVID-19 but this is completely unprofessional and unfair to customers. I spent $60.00 to ship those packages not including the contents. Moving forward I will only use UPS or FEDEX!!!!!

Why are we still getting junk mail during this pandemic? This is putting the mail carriers and recipients at risk. How can I stop junk mail from being delivered to my home?

    Apr 14, 2020
  • anon

I think the solution to that would be holding the senders accountable for sending junk mail or lower priority mail during this time as the blame should be put on them for putting the USPS, its workers, customers and the general public all at risk for what is essentially junk mail that's even less important right now.

As long as people and businesses pay to mail letters, ads, etc, the Usp is required to deliver them.

I have observed that parcels are taking unusually long to be delivered. For example, I shipped two parcels traveling within my state (Colorado) by 2-day Priority Mail, yet, they delivered to their destinations in 6 days. It appears that your tracking system is now "hedging," rather than giving precise scan times & locations. Prior to your changing your tracking site, I tracked these same two parcels, only to discover that they had been routed through Portland,OR, of all places. I am currently awaiting a parcel sent First class from my granddaughter in Texas that was sent on April 7, but has not yet arrived on April 14. Does this mean that mail is being rerouted to be sanitized as it travels to protect recipients? If this is so, I believe the American public would appreciate your taking such care. If, on the other hand, Portland OR has been made part of the route from Pueblo, CO to Colorado Springs, CO (a distance of about 50 miles), then it is understandable that the Postal Service is operation in the red.

    Apr 14, 2020
  • anon

The Usps does not have the money or resources to sanitize the mail. Sounds more like your parcels were loaded on the wrong truck. With Usps using so many temp’s, and demanding speed over accuracy, mistakes like this have become common place.

Mail Processing Equipment Mechanics are still being forced to work very closely together in teams to complete Work Orders that are months old because of the extra time available due to not processing as many packages at the NDC's. Mechanics are told "there are gloves and masks if you want them" but even with gloves and masks everyone is still suppose to maintain a 6' distance from other people according to the CDC. When mechanics are doing belt jobs, replacing several hundred pound shafts/rollers, motors, etc. you work hand and hand with other people. Gloves tear and masks are not always sealed properly especially while sweating. Also, employees are not being told when other employees test positive or are quarantined due to their family members testing positive. I worked with a guy who was quarantined for 14 days my last day of work before my baby was born. No one bothered to call and let me know that maybe I should pay close attention to symptoms and/or wear PPE while around newborn babies, expectant mothers and hospital workers in the NICU. Just typical for the incompetent supervision that is put in place. Maintenance supervision should be hired based on knowledge and experience not based on demographic quotas.
