The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted our country in ways that were unimaginable months ago. It is changing how people across the U.S. and around the world are working, shopping, even interacting with one another. States have ordered many stores and businesses to close. Businesses that continue to operate are faced with protecting their employees and customers, while coming up with creative ways to market and deliver their products.

The Postal Service continues to serve the public, operating on the front line, fulfilling the universal service obligation to deliver to every house and business every day. USPS is finding itself serving a population that is relying on it now more than ever. For many home-bound and quarantined people, home delivery is the only source for medicine and other vital supplies. During this time, the Postal Service has also prioritized the safety of its employees and customers.

We recognize the reality of the pandemic and have adapted our operations to maintain continuity while ensuring the safety of our employees. We are taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees, using technology whenever possible. As we have told our employees, we also ask you to follow CDC guidelines, remain home as much as possible, and stay safe.

For questions or concerns about delivery during the pandemic, please go to usps.com to track mail or get information from the USPS Coronavirus FAQs page.

Postal Service employees, for work-related complaints or issues, please use our Hotline to let us know.

I totally agree! Did you receive a response from anyone?

Why is EVERY SINGLE priority package to my address getting lost?? EVERY SINGLE ONE?? I understand “there’s a pandemic”, but you guys had a tough time with basic competence even before this happened. Totally fed up, If I dropped the ball as often and as regularly as your carriers I wouldn’t have a job.

Interesting, every time I choose Priority it takes twice as long as regular First Class, and it costs extra...

I purchased some clothing on 4/29/20 from china. I still have not received the shipment but the company I purchased it from claims its on its way. They keep giving me invalid tracking numbers so I cant track it. Their web site claimed with the curent pandemic shipping time should be "approximately 27 days" after the package shipped. What is the current shipping time from China to Arizona for clothing? All I'm asking for is an approximate idea.

Before the pandemic I never had mail returned back to me. I have had three pieces of mail returned so far. What is going on?

    Jun 23, 2020
  • anon

Our medical center sent certified mail and the domestic return receipt came back with Signature as "Mail Carrier" and Received by (printed name) as "COVID-19." Can you explain if this protocol during this pandemic or if this was simply sarcasm by the person the Article was Addressed to?

I had legal registered mail signed for me supposedly by mail carrier but local office refuse to give record they can do that during pandemic. Read the website.

    Jun 26, 2020
  • anon

Odd... Refused? Asking for a record is a type of FOIA that is a reasonable request considering REGISTERED or RESTRICTED mail is the most protected and carefully documented every step of the way to the recipients hand, almost like a DIPLOMATIC way to say, GO USPS! I like this kind of protection! Smile ASL, Masks for COVID-19. Have a great USPS day!

Someone sent my package from the US March 19 & last tracking tells me that on March 23 it was in transit I understand that covid has affected deliveries and I expected the 4 to 6 week delay. It is now June 23 and nothing has changed on the tracking for over 8 weeks I am tryinh to speak or communicate with a human but it's like getting blood out of a stone, cam someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I have many packages in this same limbo, sent around your same timeframe, and it is causing problems. Last tracking in all cases now shows a US customs acceptance for this current week 6/20, and in at least 2 cases, all previous tracking history is gone. Not sure if this new US customs acceptance scan is actual, or one of their many bogus scans. Are these packages all legitimately back in the US, after all received the international dispatch scan months ago? The USPS has lost all my future international business. They simply can not provide a reliable service. None of the information they have been providing is accurate. It’s complete BS on another level.

wow people really LOVE complaining!!! thank you mail carriers for all the hard work you do!!

    Jun 22, 2020

You’re delusional. USPS has a history of being inept and careless. There is an unprecedented situation, but this problem has long existed prior this COVID pandemic. They don’t care.

You do realise they are getting paid to do their ''job" and nobody forced them to take that particular ''job''. Do your job properly or don't do it at all. People are paying for a service and when that service is not satisfactory or even very poor they have the right to "complain" !!! Oh yes it's so hard to sort out and deliver mail how in the world do those mail carriers ever do it !!! SMH

    Jun 27, 2020
  • anon

Molly... A/k troll. people are not on here to,”just complain” It’s extremely frustrating. when you have paid for items and on more than one occasion it disappears.

I work the triage desk in our medical office. As our office protocol, we require EVERYONE to have a temperature check prior to entering our facility. A mail carrier told us she refused to get her temperature check and if we ask her again, she would refuse to deliver our mail and we would have to go to the post office for all needs. As a mother who has a son with cancer, these protocols in office are for the safety of our staff as well as our patients. Please let us know if there is any reason why she cannot get the checks when every other carrier must. Thank you

I understand that there will be a delay because of COVID 19. I’ve had a package stuck in Chicago since March 28tb. That’s almost 3 months ago now. Here’s my question - what can I do as an international purchaser? USPS claims are only available for senders and domestic shipping. I’m an American citizen in Spain. Can I get some guidance on what to do? As many others have noted this is ONLY a problem with Chicago. I’m patient but I actually have moved since this package was sent. So I’m extremely concerned.

I'm glad I am not the only one experience this. I have had a package in transit 3 months. I filed a request to see what is going on and it basically amounted to "don't worry, it will be delivered". Still in transit, still no package

I can relate. I purchased some custom diamond paintings from China on 2/26. I ended up getting a refund for it because it never showed up and tracking had expired. Out of boredom, I decided to track the package again because I was reading where peoples packages were showing up after 4 to 5 months later. I tracked mine via 17track and saw "Chicago, arrival" 6/18/2020. Here it is July and its still there. I tracked previous packages I've received and they sat in Chicago for a few days. Is this the norm? To sit there for weeks?

This is getting extremely irritating knowing that I’ve ordered stuff in February and still have not gotten anything and they keep keeping my package is on the East Coast or the West Coast I’m in Kansas a highly rely on this stuff and I realize things are backed up but I feel like I’m getting ripped off from all of these companies or they got raided and my packages stolen because from all of the rioters I don’t know what to think this is ridiculous I want my packages I have literally 30 packages that have yet to show up. On top of all of that I get no more updates from the tracking because everything still city is still sitting on the East Coast is still sitting on the West Coast and yet I didn’t got my packages at all I’ve tracked there’s no way that this is OK and if you check all the comments you’ll see that the automated response send you to go back to track your package some more so you can stare at a screen tracking something that’s not moving day after day month after month.

I work part time at a Senior Complex in Shorewood MN. Our postal man refuses to come into our building to deliver mail if he needs to wear a mask. He is leaving the mail in the entry way for our staff to deliver to the residents. We do not have access to the locked mail bins thus the mail put into cubbie bins. Due to the nature of some of the residents memory issues a few of them are taking other residents mail. We have requested numerous times for the driver to enter the building and place mail into the locked mail boxes, he refuses because he needs to mask. I look at this he is not doing his job by providing delivery services for our residents. I called the Annex and they advised the GVT is not requiring staff to mask. This seems very unacceptable as several other employers require their staff to mask, food, retailers. So much for GVT paid employees to provide customer service.

This is totally unacceptable. What’s even more unacceptable is being told to go to the post office, when they have a line outside the door and people have been waiting for over an hour JUST TO GET IN THE DOOR. And, no matter when I go there is a line. I order stuff online because I have 2 small children and single and I hate that I’m unable to choose my carrier. My mom has worked for the post office for over 30 years and I tell her that I hope businesses stop using them and they shut down cause this makes absolutely zero sense. I have been waiting for a month on a package, but guess who has no tag? However, the company says go check with the P.O. because it was delivered there. So, they want me to go stand in line for over an hour to find a package- with no tag- to see if they have it? Ridiculous. I hope they just return to sender. This is the 2nd time they have lost a package and I’m sick and tired of it. And claims take just as long and aren’t worth it either. Guess I’ll stick to the companies that don’t use the usps. I had a certified letter in my informed delivery that was supposed to be delivered Tuesday the 16th, it never showed up, Is this a covid thing where we have to go to office to get? We didn't even get a note regarding that if that's the case.

Hi. I’ve been awaiting a package in CT from my family in The Netherlands. It’s status has been “processed by US customs” since last Sunday, 6/14 per the USPS Tracking website. How long is it expected to take for it to be processed and cleared? I understand it may take longer due to COVID-19, but there doesn’t seem to be a projected delivery date. Please advise, and thank you in advance.

Could you please provide a statement regarding the Chicago ISC facility and what is being done to ensure the backlog of packages are being moved? I've had an item at this facility since mid-April. I'm not necessarily in a hurry to get it, but some clarity on whether or not it will arrive at all would be helpful. I think as an organization you could avoid a number of calls and bad reviews if you would just provide some sort of communication about the delays.

Hope to shed some light and offer some hope for delayed packages. I've had dozens of domestic and international shipments to and from the US, Asia and Europe in the last 3 months. Things from China in March have slowly trickled in. Several from France and the Czech Republic were processed with almost no delay while others have languished in ISC NY, NJ and Miami. Japan Post has shipped nothing since April. Singapore Post seems similarly paralysed, probably due to lack of commercial flights to put cargo on. NY must be a real mess. I've had items en route to LA routed to MA, FL, ME with weeks-long stretches with no scans or activity before finally being sent on their way. I started one case for missing mail, package could not be found, case closed and it turned up a week later. The backlogs, rerouting, staffing issues, safety issues must be insane. I'm thankful for the work the USPS is doing and honestly hope they receive more funding and support to deal with this situation.

Hi JJ - have you had any shipments from Australia or anything sitting in Los Angeles. I have had a package sitting in customs in LA since the end of May.

    Jun 19, 2020

I had a package from Australia and it took 24 days to arrive to me! That is a little slower but it did make it. Seems it got stuck in San Francisco CA for days!! I have mailed a package to Australia on 1st June, and it's still in Miami as if this moment! Hopefully it will get on the move soon.

Hi Alison - Out of 2 Australian shipments to the US, one (with tracking) arrived with little delay in mid-May, the other has not been heard from since April 23rd. Larger tracked parcels seem to be having better luck than small letters. Nothing gone missing officially yet - just crazy delays. Good luck!

Sad this is this isn’t happening international, its domestic packages too, mine just sit in detroit and im like 30 mins away

    Jun 18, 2020
  • anon

Oh it’s not just happening domestically. S. Korea’s version of the USPS (EMS) has been completely suspended for probably a month now. I buy a lot of skincare from there and what is normally free but slow, isn’t too bad (3 weeks from the time of order, half of that being processing!). Now they are having to use companies similar to UPS and Fedex (DHL), so what would normally be free is at least $18, and up to $32 for “express mail” which is supposed to be 3-5 business days to the US, could be fast if the companies shipped out their orders in a timely manner). So it’s definitely not just us. The only COVID related nail issues I have had is the local branch not wanting to deliver mail or packages ever, or answer their phone. I haven’t gotten mail since the 9th and can’t get a hold of anyone. I requested a mail re-delivery. They didn’t do it. I called the 800 number, they sent out a case to my local branch who was supposed to contact me on Monday, and nothing. I do truly wish that I could pick where my tax money went (Ha) and give a good percentage to USPS. It truly boggles my mind that they don’t get government funding. I’d be willing to pay them monthly. I just want my mail.

I have a package that has been stuck in the Chicago customs with no updates since the 14th and the delivery date was over a week ago. I reached out to usps and they said customs can take up to 5 weeks or something like that to process it. That’s insane! There has to be something going on at customs in Chicago because I’ve read about many people having their mail stuck there indefinitely..
