The global pandemic of COVID-19 has impacted our country in ways that were unimaginable months ago. It is changing how people across the U.S. and around the world are working, shopping, even interacting with one another. States have ordered many stores and businesses to close. Businesses that continue to operate are faced with protecting their employees and customers, while coming up with creative ways to market and deliver their products.

The Postal Service continues to serve the public, operating on the front line, fulfilling the universal service obligation to deliver to every house and business every day. USPS is finding itself serving a population that is relying on it now more than ever. For many home-bound and quarantined people, home delivery is the only source for medicine and other vital supplies. During this time, the Postal Service has also prioritized the safety of its employees and customers.

We recognize the reality of the pandemic and have adapted our operations to maintain continuity while ensuring the safety of our employees. We are taking abundant care to minimize exposure to both our employees and Postal Service employees, using technology whenever possible. As we have told our employees, we also ask you to follow CDC guidelines, remain home as much as possible, and stay safe.

For questions or concerns about delivery during the pandemic, please go to usps.com to track mail or get information from the USPS Coronavirus FAQs page.

Postal Service employees, for work-related complaints or issues, please use our Hotline to let us know.

i shipped out a package at the beginning of July and it is currently sitting at the LA ISC. I haven't gotten an update in almost a month. All it has said for the past three weeks is "Your item was processed through our LOS ANGELES CA INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER facility on July 26, 2020 at 7:09 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination." Package is heading to Canada and customer is getting antsy. There is no ETA and all i got out of calling customer service was that they have to wait for a plane. JUST SOME INSIGHT OR AN ETA WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU! also- i appreciate every usps worker that is working through this pandemic. <3

Thank you Trump for putting a new head of USPS that clearly has conflicting interest to the well-being of the company because he is invested in competitors. Thank you for cutting workers and any overtime pay to address the serious influx of mail due to covid and delaying everything. I am glad the USPS which is an American Institution is being misappropriated for grossly unethical means.

My international package shipped on May, okay, I wait almost 2 months to get it updated of arrived at New York. But since the package arrived on July 5th, no further updates anymore!!! What the heck the customs are doing? I understand the COVID-19 pandemic due to the package delay, but for over a month with no update?! I hand another package arrived on July 7 and it came out from custom just one day after, and this package for over a month?! This is ridiculous!!

I live in Vero Beach Florida and my mail carrier does not wear a mask. I find this alarming as I suffer from an auto immune disorder that could be a death sentence if I were to contract Covid -19. In fact my entire community is at risk from this careless woman. Is there anything that can be done to convince carriers of the danger they pose to others as well as to themselves and their families, by the contact they have with every household on their route?

It seems like thousands of people across the nation are experiencing late packages woth no update on tracking. For the majority of us the last status was "in transit, arriving late". I personally have 2 priority packages that were sent from the same city 2 weeks ago. Never arrived. Nobody responds to emails or calls. Local post says its the sender local posts problem. What in the heck is going on with the USPS?

Since the covid panic began in March, suddenly packages from Amazon are getting lost. This used to rarely happen with Amazon Prime shipping. Are postal workers so angry they are giving package away to wrong address? Or throwing them away? What the heck is really going on? And do NOT blame Trump because if one does there research they will see that USPS has been in big trouble way before he was elected!

Postal Employees send be tested everyday! The Covid-19 cleaning procedures after an identified confirmed COVID-19 case is useless as the COVID-19 response kits are not being used! Lack of communication about confirmed cases between District Management, Local Management, and the Local Unions has to be improve are it will leave USPS employees in danger meanwhile District, Area, and HQ USPS work from home via ZOOM!

Given the potential for asymptomatic transmission of SARS-CoV-2, HCP providing in-person care to patients not suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 should follow recommended infection control practices to prevent transmission of infectious agents and infection control practices specific to COVID-19. CDC has provided specific considerations for care of patients not suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 when there are moderate or substantial levels of community transmission.

My complaint is my billing mail that I mailed out to Companies I owe money to this new month of August...My Bill's have not reached there destinations in timely manner. Is this due to Post office employees not taking this killing virus seriously? Or is someone at the Nashville ( Central ), Post Office that distributes the mail ...Throwing my mailings away ...My mortgage payment usually reaches its destination in 4 to 6 days My electric Bill usually in 1 to 2 days it has not. Despite what our leaders say about this deadly virus...Post Office employees need to keep yourselves safe . Am concerned my monthly payments to companies I owe money to..Aren't reaching these destinations in timely manner. Concerned Mr Doak Resident of Smyrna Tennessee

My regular postal carrier and even the substitute for Saturday is not wearing her (both women) mask ~ ever ~ while delivering mail right to our doors and even sometimes handing me a small package when she knows I'm home. I am extremely concerned about this especially since the mailboxes are very close to my apartment. I live in Austin Texas and my zip code is 78757.

NOT YET RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL PACKAGE- I am still waiting to receive my package mailed from The Netherlands on May 14th. After the mailing date, I got no information via the USPS tracking site and it seemed as though there was no movement at all after the package was mailed!! Suddenly, on July 21st USPS tracking said Inbound out of customs and then it arrived at the Chicago ISC distribution center. Then a few days later it said "Your package is moving within USPS network and on track to be delivered to the final destination. It is in transit to the next facility" This was on July 25th. Again, no movement after that till date. 10 weeks after the package was mailed, I still haven't received it. This is super frustrating to have to wait at every step with no proper updates! When I called USPS, I get conflicting answers. One agent said possibly an address problem so it can't be delivered!!!? How is that even possible when I have regularly receive packages from this sender to the same address without any issues?! Another agent said due to COVID-19, delays are bound to happen and now I have to wait patiently to receive it but can give NO ETA. Basically, there's no clear information and I am being asked to wait with NO END in sight! Can someone help fix this problem so that I can get my package delivered as soon as possible? Thank you!

I buy quite a bit internationally and am frustrated and wondering what the issue is too. At first I thought it was a delay outside the use but I looked up the all the shipping history. Most packages arrive to the states in 3-10 days. Once in the hands of USPS they spend 2-4 weeks at each USPS facility. Each package normally goes threw 3 facilities a shipment.

    Aug 07, 2020

having the exact same issue. Item shipped from Russia 4/20, finally made it into US July 1st, left Chicago July 13th and since then it has said In transit to the next facility. Absolutely no movement. so frustrating

I have this exact same problem. I currently have three packages waiting in Chicago from Canada and they haven't moved since mid July. I understand they likely are having delays but I had another package from Canada shipped after these that I have received... So what is the priority or process here? Can I at least get an update on top when those packages are planning on leaving Chicago since they already cleared customs?

According to the article below you have extended delivery times for basically most all types of mail. Contrary to what is stated, First Class Mail has also been and continues to be delayed. Well, we are still paying the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY! So either you lower rates to adjust for the difference or hire more drivers and buy more vehicles to get the mail delivered ON TIME! There is no excuse for me paying the same and getting less. We all should get a refund for every letter and package that's late for which we have to pay for postage/shipping costs. Your excuse for not fulfilling the service obligation that you are advertising is grounds for a Class Action Suit and USPS needs to get on the ball and deliver the mail as advertised or lower the rates to compensate for service not rendered or... get a new PMG. You provide a delivery date and then at the last moment, change it to "arriving late or delayed delivery" with absolutely NO explanation being provided to the customers. UNACCEPTABLE. The Post Master General needs to be put on notice as of now. He is paid $291,650 a year to get the job done and this ain't cutting it! Congress is aware of his careless attitude and so are USPS customers. As per USPS WEBSITE: "USPS® Coronavirus Updates: Expected Delivery Changes USPS products and packages may require more time to be delivered due to limited transportation availability as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 impacts. Apr 17, 2020•FAQ Article Number 000004253 Customer Information I understand some of my mail delivery may be delayed? Why? Postal Service Priority Mail® products and First-Class® packages may temporarily require more time to be delivered due to limited transportation availability as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. When will this happen? This change is effective April 17, 2020. How will this affect delivery of Priority Mail? Priority Mail's two-day and three-day service commitments will be extended to three days and four days, respectively. Customers will continue to receive improved product tracking and as much as $50 in free insurance. Will this affect delivery of Priority Mail Express®? Priority Mail Express service, which guarantees overnight service, and one-day service commitments for Priority Mail will not change. Will First-Class Mail be delayed too? There is no impact to First-Class letters and flats. However, First-Class Package Service® two and three day service commitments will be extended to three and four days respectively.

Of course there are going to be delays, the USPS is dealing with monumental Christmas Volumes without any of the supplemental workforce that is hired during the peak holiday season. Employees are taking COVID leave to take care of family members, employees are encouraged to stay home if they feel sick to prevent the spread of the virus in case they have it. short staffing and and an increase in volume is hurting the customers and also the employees who are working massive overtime, regardless of what the PMG says there is LOTS of overtime. your one package is important to you but look at it as a grain of sand on the beach..... In fiscal year 2019, the Postal Service delivered 143 billion pieces of mail to 160 million delivery addresses and operated more than 31,000 Post Offices. over 600,000 employees still working are considered essential workers.

Now, the post office is using COVID as an excuse to screw around with people's deliveries. This is getting ridiculous. First Amazon did it. Then, along came the price gougers and scalpers with their extortion. Now, the Post Office, too? I am SO tired of COVID being just about every business's excuse to slack off. This whole situation has been used as one big smokescreen for slimy business practices!

Triple the time consuming pieces, each requiring an individual scan with half the staff due to quarantines. Even if you don't believe that the virus is real people, including essential postal workers are required to isolate and not work. Star Trek might be able to techno babble a solution but not the real world. You cam can go to Usps.com and apply as community service if the selective service system isn't used to make up losses in the war on COVID 19.

Tell your local postal employees that you want their office workers who face the public to wear a mask (properly) and keep their distance. And regularly disinfect those touch screens. Most postal workers do, but a minority don't. Is it as simple as Democrats do but Republicans don't? Or is it just that those who get their "news" from hard right sources really do believe that it's all a plot to destroy America? If the postmaster general can't buck the guy in the White House, can the regional directors issue their own directives? Can the union bring some pressure on this, for the safety of their members and the public?

    Jul 29, 2020
  • anon

If masks work, wear your's and you don't have to worry about the other people. Want a clean touch screen? Carry alcohol wipes and use them before you touch anything. Your fear should not be pushed on anyone else.

Sorry, but I think I'm going to take my medical and public health advice from people who have more claim to credibility than a miscellaneous poster on a USPS blog. Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that you're one of those who from the start bought the US Government's wildly inaccurate downplaying of the pandemic and now, like the capo himself, can't bring yourself to admit that that was a mistake? Look around, look deep inside yourself, and accept reality. It doesn't hurt. In fact, you just might find it feels good to escape,

It appears that this is not a site to find answers but a site where customers can vent. Ok - here's my story. We are trying to settle an estate. We sent 7 certified letters on July 15. Today is the 29th. The closest destination for delivery is approximately 30 miles away. It has not been delivered. One of the letters showed as a confirmed delivery on the informed delivery site. Another letter shows to be still in transit but the card attached to that certified letter has been returned. The other 5 letters just refer to the covid situation and say that the letters will be late arriving. When I originally took the letters to the post office on July 15 - the clerk told me the letters would be delivered either the upcoming Saturday or the following Monday. She didn't say she didn't know when they would get there because of the covid virus. I feel I was duped.

A friend of mine ordered his days after I did an received his parcel, from the same place and received in the standard expected amount of time. Which makes wonder what gives? the same covid excuse does not hold up considering they originated from the same place. Makes me wonder if USPS is playing politics hoping for a government bailout for unsustaainable business practices. Leaves me asking What can Brown do for you? Go Teamsters

Hello, 60+ packages were picked up from our buildings mailroom and at least 43 of those packages are still in pre-shipment. It's been two weeks now, and been getting a lot of customer complaints. I understand there are delays but last weeks packages were already scanned so I am feeling helpless. I called USPS and they are going to find out who picked them up but meanwhile i'm not sure what to tell customers? Or if they are lost will USPS be liable for that or is it a complete loss?

Does anyone from USPS even read the comments on this site? It obvious there are so many packages that are either missing or got lost during transit. I myself have a package that was mailed 05/26 from another country. It finally showed up in Chicago Regional Distribution Center on 07/18 and supposedly in transit to destination. It used to have an ETA of 07/22 but its now 07/26 and status hasn’t change. It understand that it should take longer now due to Covid 19 but its been over 2 months and i still have yet to received the package. I’m calling out the Inspector General to do something about this. Do your job!!!!

I’m with you Jason! Did you get it? Mine arrived in Chicago from another country 7/16 and it’s been sitting in customs at ISC Chicago since the morning of 7/24. I needed it weeks ago. If you sent a complaint and want me to add one send me a link so I get the same facility or information. I’m happy to join forces. We all should be blowing the Inspector General’s email, etc. This is not acceptable. We’re waiting for the second outbreak to happen now and that’ll be the next excuse. I haven’t seen any sick issues where I live yet so I’m calling that and it all a load of lies. At least my new carrier wears a mask. Although he was projectile vomiting for about 15 minutes nonstop outside of my house and they had to come and get him a half an hour later he left with all the vomit around the mailbox he had just delivered and all over the yard. Hope he didn’t have the virus. Poor guy was so weak he couldn’t move and was wiping sweat off his head too. I’m not touching the mail for a week! I wear gloves and sterilize what comes to me. I hope you received your package. Mines hasn’t moved or changed.

A package of mine, per tracking services, arrived in ISC Chicago on July 9. To date, July 25, the packaged tracker indicates no movement. Is this a result of quarantine practice to withhold mail/packages for 14 days as result of pandemic protective measures. My regards.

It’s medication. Have no idea what I should say. Have you contacted them? We all should blast The Inspector General. This is not acceptable. Is the postal worker behind the counter supposed to be wearing a mask when working with customers? I went into the post office in Great Cacapon, WV (25422) for the first time since this thing started, and the postal worker was not wearing a mask. When I ask her why not, she said “because there is plexiglass in front of me.” Now, the plexiglass only goes halfway across the little window she’s in, and she was waiting on customers on the open side, and coming out from the back to talk to people. I was completely stressed out already because nobody was keeping a 6 foot distance. And nobody was wearing masks. I’m in West Virginia, I don’t know if that makes a difference as far as the post office goes, but aren’t customers also supposed to be wearing masks? Shouldn’t the postal workers be enforcing that?
