Our Hotline was launched in August 1997, shortly after our agency was established, to provide a vital communications link between the OIG and Postal Service stakeholders. The Hotline allows us to receive complaints from employees, customers, and the public.

Complaints include alleged fraud; waste of funds or resources; mail theft and other postal crimes committed by postal employees or contractors. They also encompass misconduct; violations of laws, rules, or regulations; and danger to public health and safety, relating to Postal Service programs and policies, employees, and contractors.

In fiscal year 2019, our Hotline was contacted 81,344 times. All complaints are reviewed by our hotline analysts. Sometimes, however, the complaint is outside our jurisdiction. This week’s infographic illustrates our Hotline process and the type of issues Hotline can assist you with.

I would like to know if the "Free Matter for the Blind and Physicaly Handicapped" law has changed. Can packages be shipped internationally any longer using this law? WE, as blind people, have been using this service for years to send books to blind students in schools for the blind; also other items have been shipped. Today I was told that I am no longer able to ship to the school for the blind in Akropong, Ghana and have been finding that it is questionable that i can send packages to Tanzania as well. Please advise on this law and if this is still in effect, is there a weight limit on these packages. I know we can send in the US, but I am still, as a blind person, trying to send reading materials to students in these schools which are needed so children (and adults) who are blind can learn to read. thank you for your immediate help in this situation. It really hurts to not be able to send any longer if this is the case.

I have utilized this service myself a couple of months ago because of mail showing up on my informed delivery but not in my mail box and the mail that's considered missing is usually Important mail, for example a check or something CA state related with my personal info on it. What I dont understand is if I signed up for informed delivery so that i can be made more aware or informed on what mail has been delivered supposedly to my mail box because of theft and things in that nature, but it dont never show up in my mail box yet it shows up on my informed delivery meaning the last time I saw it was in the hands of who ever suppose to deliver it but it somehow just disappears, no contact from usps or anything and when I do make contact I'm told, it's the processing people who had it last and not usps, makes no sence to even have the informed delivery option in the first place. To me its contradicting itself and this is still happening just recently i waited a day or 2 just to see if it shows up but nothing came and I keep submitting claims with no resolution to the problem I'm having with my mail missing it keeps happening I keep seeing mail that has not been delivered to my mail box and probably never will be unless I ask the person to send it again but that's frustrating to do so I've been finding other options as to how I'm gonna recieve my important mail, there really needs to be some way that someone is held responsible for my mail missing especially since this is happening alot. But who do I turn too and who will press the issue, it's only obvious that either my mail is being mis handled by the mail carrier or stolen by the mail carriers or mail subcontractors or what ever they call it , who knows its suppose to be in the safety of the us post office but I cant no longer trust them its sad that people have to go through obstacles when it comes to missing mail and no one knows it just magically disappears.

It would be helpful if employees knew the hotline existed. There should be posters in the workplace and a couple of standups each year explaining to the employees when to use the hotline.
